Death by Rabindranath Tagore
I don’t know death. Today my thoughts are focused on it
I am trembling with fear every moment.
My eyes are tearful, at the thought of leaving this world
I own my life and I am hugging it with
both my arms.
O ignorant one,
who has claimed life and death as their own
from the time of birth without your knowledge,
it has been decided! In the morning of death
you will see that face again
one you will know at that moment
I love my life so much, this is why I have a firm belief,
I will certainly love death just as much.
An infant cries in fear when it is removed from a mother’s breast,
the next moment it regains its comfort when it finds the breast.
