Peeaari Lady-love By Tagore translated by Ranu
With a lamp came the princess
in the courtyard , name is Lady-love.
I ask ,why are you here?
Quietly says she, I want nothing.
Recognize me well is all I want,
Fill your mind with this light.
I visit your courtyard back and forth,
the flowers get breeze because of me.
When Jasmine blossoms in the woods,
I announce their arrival in my loose piece of cloth.
The flowers blossoming every where,
I delight them by giving my touch.
The morning star visible in dawn,
I accurately show her what to see.
When my jingling anklet is heard
the blades of grass shiver excitedly.
Beds of flower decorated in your garden,
all whisper to each other, lady-love is here.
The sun gives its lustre to the morning clouds,
The woods are awake on the coming of Lady-love .
The night of full moon brings the swinging Spring,
‘Lady-love,Lady-love’ they noisily sing.
Breeze of the mango blossoms excite the villagers ,
they are playing the flutes in Lady-love’s name.
The fall fills the Jumna with water,
‘Lady-love Lady-love’ they sing all along the shore.’
