Writing Prompt: Sliced Bread https://sabethville.wordpress.com/2014/01/27/365-days-jan 27-sliced bread/
There are many things actually the best since sliced bread. If we take into account the ones that are best for health.
I’d like to mention health benefits, since much is written about what tastes good and what is good for health. To me bagels can easily replace sliced bread as far as taste goes. Neither is healthy, because both affects blood sugar. If we want to be healthy,we’d have to strike both of them off the list.
What can we eat which is tasty and does not raise our blood sugar. According to research oatmeal is a good substitute, I’m not sure if it satisfies our palate. I eat porridge daily,I’m used to it, I’ve stopped thinking about taste. I sure am glad it does not raise my blood sugar.
Therefore what do I think is actually best since sliced bread? Keeping in mind especially about my health, which is more important,I think I’d go for bread, bagel or anything that is made with oatmeal.
Dear Ranu,
Thank you for sharing this about bread. I very much like sour dough bread.
All good wishes,
robert
I love sourdough bread too.
I love eating sweet potatoes and arrow roots for controlling blood sugar levels. For me, any form of bread plays havoc with my sugar levels.
Bread especially white bread is the worst for sugar level. How do you eat arrow roots?
I peel off the thick skin and cut medium size cubes. Sprinkle with salt, steam or boil them. Delicious and satisfying breakfast with tea.
Thank you Sonya. I have to find it in the super market and then I will try your recipe.
Great idea.
I’ll try it thanks Sonya.
I’ve eaten arrow root cookies, what else is made with it.I have no idea.I’d look it up. Thank you Sonya.
