Another #SNHU final project draft: “Unique perspectives on female characters in 13th/14th century art and literature”

The Bohemian Rock Star's "Untitled Project"

I just did a first draft of my final project paper for my humanities course at Southern New Hampshire University. The assignment was to take two art forms from different mediums and do a compare/contrast essay in our opinions (although we could use sources). The assignment had a required word count of 700-900 and I think I’m somewhere around 1680. So i might have to cut back in some areas. Anyways, If you like medieval culture (and who doesn’t love The Canterbury Tales) take a look and let me know what you think.

“Unique perspectives on female characters in 13th/14th century art and literature”

The perception of females throughout visual art and literature is something that has always been, and most likely always will be, criticized heavily. With a large portion of art being influenced by religious text/morals/beliefs and conservative ideals (which…

Writing Prompt: Local Flavor

Write a piece  about a typically “local” experience where you come from as though it’s an entry in a travel guide.

I am torn between where I live now and where I come from i.e., my original home. Which one shall I choose, I think my choice is my original home.

It is a very quiet little town, I am thinking back when I was thirteen. I remember at exactly at 3:30 in the morning the rooster will crow and I’d open my eyes and say it’s still too early and go right back to sleep.

It gave a feeling of freedom, the vendors out with their daily routine of carrying fresh vegetables going door to door to sell them, the man selling chicken would offer to remove its feathers and clean it, you could bargain with him,if you wanted to pay less than he was asking for,he’d give in because he’d been carrying these for a while, the sun was hot and he was tired.

Then there was a man selling fresh buttermilk, he’d been around longer than he wanted to, any longer would spoil his buttermilk.

There will be kids of all sizes and shapes going to school with their heavy book bags, eager to get to school so they can lighten the load by placing them on their desks.

It is a warm place birds of all varieties would fly around alerting everyone it’s time to wake up and start our chores.

The rickshaws would gather on the stands hoping someone would be kind enough to hire them.

There was no fear of army marching on the streets to show their presence.

It’s a very quiet unpolluted town where Tagore’s song is heard by kids as young as five, getting ready for the show in the evening.

You’d hear a chorus of “Amaar Shonar Bangladesh”, my beloved Bangladesh.

DP Daily Prompt: Mr. Sandman:

pad2014-s.png (308×60)

What kind of sleeper are you?Do you drop off like a stone and awaken refreshed or do you need pitch black and silence to drift off to dream.

I am not sure what kind of a sleeper I am. It’s different, so I am unable to write what kind I am. Some nights I can lie down, say my prayer, and if I can keep my mind off any kind of thoughts good or bad I then fall asleep. I am a very light sleeper I always have been,it hasn’t changed.

I have to have some kind of light in my room all night, to be able to sleep. If the light goes off due to weather or rolling black outs I instantly wake up and find it hard to breathe. I know you’d think that’s weird but having a dim light in my room is a necessity for me.

Then the prayer time changes every morning, it is 5:28 a.m today, so when I woke up my system was declining to leave the bed, I forced myself to get up after twenty minutes. It was still okay because the sunrise was two minutes before seven.I finished after twenty six minutes I mean praying. I didn’t feel I had enough sleep, but chose to turn on the computer and see if there was any mail for me, there were a few,I took care of those, I knew I wasn’t in a mood to have breakfast that early so I went back to bed.

When I woke up at 8:50 a.m I felt refreshed and happy I made the decision to go back to sleep. I am glad today’s prompt is all about sleep. I don’t dream much only occasionally.

Yesterday at 5:00 a.m I woke up thinking about the zucchinis I bought a week ago. I was sure they would rot after staying cramped in the fridge for a week. To my absolute delight they were as fresh as they could be, first thing I did I sliced them, washed them ,and spiced them. Imagine dreaming about zucchinis, they were in my sub-conscious mind I suppose, had they not come to half awake and half dreaming mode they’d still be cramped up and eventually rot.
