Unique perspectives on female characters in 13th/14th century art and literature

The perception of females throughout visual art and literature is something that has always been, and most likely always will be, criticized heavily. With a large portion of art being influenced by religious text/morals/beliefs and conservative ideals (which was probably attributed to said religious feelings to an extent), it is few and far between that we witness pieces of visual art or secular texts that portray women in a relatively modern light. Two pieces that do this are The Wife of Bath’s Tale (and prologue) within Geoffrey Chaucer’s The Canterbury Tales and the statue Elevation of Mary Magdalene housed within St. John’s Cathedral in Torun, Poland.

The Canterbury Tales was believed to be written by Chaucer across the course of his lifetime…

DP Daily Prompt: Junk Food Junkie

pad2014-s.png (308×60)

What’ your biggest junk food weakness? Tell us about it in its sugary, salty glory.

I am not a ‘Junk Food Junkie’ per se , having said that I must admit I do give in to some foods which might be called junk, e.g., Pizza. I do not indulge that much but every now and then I love a slice of that spicy, cheesy pizza to substitute for all the healthy foods I make myself eat. There is one thing which keeps me away from the delicious junk food and that is, I do not entertain the thought of getting my house doors wider so I can fit in. It’s terrible it’ll be spending money to fix my doors, buy new clothing, I’d be short of breath while walking and a whole bunch of unknown problems.

Who wants to buy trouble by being a ‘Junk food Junkie’.  I tell myself once in a while is okay.

Writing Prompt: Million-dollar question

Why do I blog?

I blog for many reasons: 1. To come in contact with awesome people.

2. To learn what I don’t know.

3.To know about  different people all over the world.

4.To see what is common between us

Blogging has brought me closer to some awesome people I’d never have known otherwise. Imagine how wonderful it is to interact with some amazing people sitting right in front of my laptop. My few months of blogging was kind of disappointing,I didn’t know very many people and had no idea how to contact them. Then came my most delightful moment,Leslie whom I didn’t know started writing comments on my post, I was excited, I complained, no one reads my post, she told me to visit other blogs and write comments. I did that there was some response but nothing overwhelming. Then I discovered pingbacks, I was in touch with many of them and had a great time interacting with them.

I started reading all the posts, while doing so I hit Alienora’s Blog. It is one of the best ones I’ve read. When I read her posts I get the feeling how lucky I am to find her. I already am pleased to know different people from other parts of the World, Leslie from   Us ,Ali from Uk., Samir from India, Rainee from Australia, Su Lian from Japan. There are many from US and India. I know a few from Pakistan.

On my blogging journey I found out,we all think alike,we are kind, friendly and willing to help, whenever the need arises. What more can anyone want. I find contentment here.
