Holidays in Montreal five sentence fiction

Lillie McFerrin Writes

VACATION

After nine months of  gruelling hours of teaching , Nadia was excited the school will close for two months of summer holidays.

This meant sleeping in, watching TV ,going for walks and hanging out with neighbors, delightful she told herself.

In the afternoon her husband came home, he told her, “We are going to Montreal to spend the holidays”Nadia was exceptionally happy, she sat and quickly wrote all the places she’d visit this time, which she was not able to on their last visit.

Montreal she thought,’La belle de la province’ she started dreaming of going to the “Farmer’s Market”, she’d buy the delicious cheese bread, eat at the cool restaurant there, this time she made up her mind to eat poutine.

She fell asleep thinking about her trip, she dreamed her luggage was lost and she was frantic, she started yelling what am I going to do without my clothes, her husband shook her, when she awoke, her husband said,”you were dreaming honey, we will go on our vacation next week.”

DP Daily Prompt: Teen Age Idol

pad2014-s.png (308×60)

Who did you idolize as a teenager?Did you go crazy for the Beatles? Ga-ga over Duran Duran. In love with Justin Bieber? Did you think Elvis was the livin end?

My answer to the question is,”None of the above”.  I did not know any of them, maybe they are or were super talented people, but their voices did not reach me where I lived as a teenager.

Since this is a prompt about teen age idol, my answer is I was exposed to Tagore, Rafi, Talat, And Lata to name a few.

My idol was and still is Rabindranath Tagore. His song lyrics are clearly awesome, he loved nature and wrote quite a few songs on nature and was very popular where I lived.

His songs had a calming effect on people including me, we understood them and learned to appreciate them.

Ato Z challenge: Letter V

My little pupil Ben

Had a Voracious appetite

You can easily tell when

He’d eat two Papa burgers

At a tender age of ten!

His round visage

And lovely blue eyes

Sliding about beneath

their brows

Was a picture of health!

Verses he could not memorise

Yet he would Vow day after day

“I would succeed he would say”

He tried in Vain to be Victorious

But his brain refused to co-operate!

Writing Prompt: Stranger

Have you ever had a random encounter or fleeting moment with a stranger that stuck with you?

One year I had to go to Chicago to see my brother-in-law and his wife. They had a baby, my husband couldn’t go due to his back. He was in pain 24/7, so he thought we were obligated to see the little infant, since he was unable to go, I’d have to go. I won’t mention about the reception I got this is irrelevant here.

I boarded the plane with my two little ones in the wee hours of the morning. I had to carry their paraphernalia with me, to keep them under control. I reached Montreal safe and sound with my young family. At the airport runway for some reason we had to take a shuttle to go to the airport lounge. We were waiting to get the shuttle, in my mind I was thinking how was I going to carry the bags and hold on to my kids at the same time.

A lady behind called out and said, “I see you need help , let me take one of your kids to help you go on board.”

I was sure I was getting Divine help, I was so thankful to the lady, I couldn’t think of enough words to express how grateful I was.

We reached Chicago at 10 pm. my kids were fast asleep on the plane. When the plane landed and we were ready to get off, I heard another voice behind me, this time it was a gentleman, “Excuse me ma’am, your kids are sleeping, how will you carry them out,let me help you?”

Was this another voice from up above, I thought? I was delighted to take his offer of help, he carried my younger one and my older one woke up, I held her hand and carried the bags with me.

I thanked the gentleman and walked over to see my brother-in-law who came to pick me up. He had a very stupid question which I can’t help but write, “Who was this man?”

“A nice gentleman I said who offered to help me.”
