DP Daily Prompt: Unsafe Containers

pad2014-s.png (308×60) Which emotion(s)– joy, envy, rage, pity,or something else — do you find to be the hardest to contain?

Any of these emotions can be hard to contain, but frankly the one I find difficult to contain is rage.

My older daughter once told me that a group of boys cornered my younger daughter during recess and bashed her head against the wall. My younger one did not tell me anything about this incident, it was when my older one was passing by she saw it.

I could not believe that grade one kids could be this horrible, I was a teacher at that time. I got the name of the leader of the group, without wasting time I went to his classroom, they had a substitute that day, I went to the door and asked the teacher to let me talk to the boy. I’m sure he knew why I was there, slowly he came to the door where I was waiting, I asked him if his name was …  he said yes, I warned him that if he ever touched my daughter I’d make sure he’d never do it again!

365 days Writing Prompt: Tourist trap

What’s your dream tourist destination— either a place you’ve seen and loved, or a place you’d love to visit? What about it speaks to you?

My dream tourist destination would be to visit the places where our famous poet and philosopher grew up and wrote his amazing poetry and song lyrics.

The country is India and the place is Kolkata, a city of millions where life is difficult for most citizens, hunger homelessness and continuous hardship make the poor wonder, “Is this the reason we were born here to suffer and live day to day life in sheer agony?”

Tagore’s poems and Sarat Chandra’s novels are the reason I’d like to visit this particular city, how they felt when they witnessed the plight of the majority of citizens, and wrote their amazing poems and stories to tell those suffering humanity, ” I feel your pain!”

When we think of traveling we usually think of wonderful sights to see, delectable foods, gorgeous clothes to buy and spend time in a place which feels like a paradise on earth.

There’s nothing wrong with it, we are allowed to enjoy ourselves after a hard months of work. We all think differently and do as we please.

When I read the prompt this morning, it made me think, where would I go if I had a chance, Tagore’s song: “Oh my homeland you have given me so much.” It was easy to make up my mind where I’d like to go. I’ve posted this for all to see, how simple life is.
