DP Daily Prompt: Set for Solstice

pad2014-s.png (308×60) Today’s summer solstice the longest day of the year(in the northern Hemisphere). How are you taking advantage of the extra hours of light this time of the year? Do you like it, or already miss earlier sunsets?

I do like extra hours of light, there are so many things we can do, go for a walk, enjoy the sun outdoors and warm days.

Shorter days means the  cold days and nights and the dreaded winter.

Where I live the days are too short, the sunsets at 4 pm which is too early, I really do not look forward to shorter days. It means winter is close, the snow, the cold windy days scares me. We have to put on extra layers of clothing to stay warm.

What I really like is temperate climate , not too cold in the winter and not too hot in the summer.

  1. Do you live on the far east side of your time zone? Where I live in Chicago, which is on the far east side of the Central time zone, during the winter indeed the sun sets around 16:00 during the winter. It was one of the hardest things to which I acclimated, and it was so subtle too!

  2. Dear Ranu,

Thank you for this nice post about the summer solstice. We hope yours is wonderful!

    All good wishes,
