365 Writing Prompts: Exhale

Tell us about a time when everything seemed to be going wrong–and then suddenly, you knew it would be alright.

This was quite sometime ago, I was going back to Dhaka from my hometown,I decided to go by air, which only takes twenty five minutes, whereas it is over four hours by train, I was happy I made this decision, the thought I’d save so many hours delighted me.

The plane took off without any problem, soon I saw we were circling the city, but then it dawned on me why isn’t the plane landing, this thought scared me out of my wits, what’s wrong the words kept echoing in my mind, suddenly the passenger sitting next to me said: “How much longer will it take for the plane to land, this is my first time traveling by air?”

I looked at her innocent face and stayed quiet, she didn’t know there was a problem ,I didn’t want to scare her.

After flying over the city for more than forty five minutes, the plane made a belly landing. The pilot had to empty the fuel before he did that or else, you can imagine what would happen, and I wouldn’t be able to write about my scary experience!

  1. Dear Ranu,

Thank you for sharing this post. Wow…what a scary incident. Thank God for the pilot who clearly knew what s/he was doing and landed the plane safely.

    All good wishes,

  2. I can’t imagine how scary this experience must have felt. It was good you didn’t scare the first time flyer even more. I wonder after she found out exactly what had happened, did she ever fly again? But thank God all was well 🙂

  3. Actually it scared me as I was reading it. Very thoughtful of you not to tell the fellow passenger. We can thank God for all such things through which we survive and move on for thanking Him on another day.
