365 Writing Prompts: Placebo effect

If you could create a painless, inexpensive care for a single ailment, what would you cure and why?

I  sometimes feel ill without any reason, I get this at times, When I have too much time on my  hands and cannot find much to do, it is during  these times I feel sick, there is no headache tummy ache or any kind of ache. For such an ailment there is a medicine, it goes like this:

Sing a song of six pence a  pocket full of rye,

Four and twenty black birds baked in a pie,

When the pie was opened the birds began to sing

Oh wasn’t that a dainty dish to set before a king?

The king was in the counting house, counting out  his money.

The queen was in the parlor, eating bread and honey.

The maid was in the garden, hanging out the clothes.

When down came a black bird, and pecked off her nose.

Here’s the song it sure will cure an ailment which I described above!

Do you think  the medicine I recommended is  painless and inexpensive ?

DP Daily prompts: Second–Hand stories

pad2014-s.png (308×60)

what’s the best story someone else has recently told you(in person, preferably)? Share it with us, and feel free to embellish– that’s how good stories become great, after all.

This was a story told by a friend of ours who went to Miami, Florida, United States to spend a month in that warm place and to get relief from the cold snowy winter in Newfoundland.

He rented a car to move around and see all the places in there. He wanted to impress us he had gone to Florida, since he was an invited guest in our house we let him tell us about his fabulous vacation.

Unlucky for him he had some minor accidents while driving around in Miami, Florida, which is what we were led to believe. He was stopped by traffic police on more than one occasion.

To impress the traffic cop he said, “people from my community love Florida, they come in groups every year.”

The cop listened to him and remarked,”Well if they drive like you tell them to stay home and not bother coming to Miami, we don’t want to deal with the likes of you, one is enough.”

song by Muhammad Rafi posted and translated by Ranu

Oh God the protector of humans

listen to my painful complaint.

You have created the world in two colors

one of hope and the other hopeless,

With the boat you created storm

With union, separation

I’ve seen your compensation

I’ve lost my love

shed your tears now

Oh protector of humans.

Fire is turned to rainy season,

flowers are turned into ember

The pleasant night seems like a serpent

the stars are like stones

all my support is gone

how will I spend my life

O life giver ?

Take away my life

Oh God the protector.

The crazy sun is looking for the moon,

Morning is looking for afternoon

I’m also looking for my love

who couldn’t be mine!

Oh God praise be to you

although I’m unlucky

I have hope,

I have blister on my feet

Oh protector of humans

The palace is sad

the lanes are desolate

and the walls are quiet

my heart and my world has perished

spring is displeased with me

How will I live my life?

The fallen temples are rebuilt

Who will take care of my heart

Oh protector of humans?

365 Writing prompts: Conflicted

You’re in the middle of a terrible argument, and everyone turns to you to help resolve it.How do you react to conflict?

I did not have the occasion to resolve any kind of conflict, if everyone turns to me to resolve it, I’d have a difficult time making both parties happy.

Some conflicts are easier to solve than others for instance if one of my student’s complain why he/she should win because he/she was better, it will be easy to solve the problem, if it was an essay competition, I can look at both the entries and point out some of the mistakes be it spelling, sentence structure and so on.

If it is much more serious such as inheritance it’d be more complicated, in that case I’d have to consult the proper person such as a lawyer to settle the conflict.
