Amanda and her brother John were playing on the sand in the beach, John loved the bright blue sky , he looked up and saw a bird soaring above in the sky, he was excited, he ran to his sister, he called, “Mandy, look at the bird, up in the sky , isn’t it gorgeous?”

In the evening John’s mind was occupied   about that bird he saw, he wondered if he could also fly like that bird, his parents noticed John, he was never so quiet, what happened at the beach they asked him: ” I saw a bird way up in the sky, do you think I can travel through the air like it?”

At first the parents were confused by his question, then the mother said, ‘yes we can also fly by plane!’

“It’s not the same, I want to feel the air like the bird!” he replied.

John’s interest in flying introduced him to ‘Hang Gliders’,he knew he was not old enough but he’d gather enough information about hang gliding, years went sailing by he did not give up his thirst, this was going to be his career, eventually he became a seasoned competition pilot in hang gliding, his passion took him to many places, one day Amanda saw a hang glider in the sky, she screamed, “look Mom I can see John Hang gliding, Wow!

DP Daily Prompt: By Hand

pad2014-s.png (308×60)

What’s the best present you’ve ever received that was handmade by the giver, not store- bought?Tell us what made it so special.

I think it was a year-end gift given to me by one of my students’. She made a doll by hand, the top face head neck, she bought, rest of the things she made by hand,  the dress was sewed carefully , on the front there is a sash, where she printed, ‘World’s Best Teacher.’ Those three words made me proud to know there is at least one person who thinks I am the world’s best teacher. Coming from a nine year old girl it is the best compliment I got. I have displayed it in my hutch in the dining room.

365 Writing Prompts: Write about evil

Write about evil: how you understand it( or don’t), what you think it means, or a way it’s manifested, either in the world at large or in your life.

In my mind evil carries a variety of meaning.I do not think everything we do is classified as an evil act or harmful. I believe one is evil when  his act is harmful.

I once convinced my uncle that my brother loves bony fish, which was a lie, he didn’t like any kind of fish,

Why did I do it,  I did it all in  jest of course,  I wanted to see whether he’d eat the fish my uncle specifically bought for him, Thinking it was my brother’s favorite he told the chef to  cook a variety of dishes using that fish.

It was lunch time, my brother noticed all the dishes were prepared with the same type of  fish, not knowing what to do he ate it very slowly or must I say he showed no enthusiasm, he quietly ate it.

My uncle was watching him, he whispered to me,”I don’t think your brother likes the food.”

I smiled and replied, “no, uncle he loves it, he’s just shy.”

Clearly in this case I certainly was evil, I knew better. But it did not harm my brother,he had to eat something he didn’t like.

Whereas a few years ago there were two ten year old kids, who lured a two year old boy to an unknown destination and killed him. This is what I think is an evil act, what was the consequence of this horrific crime? The two boys were not only spared,  their name was changed and  they were sent to  an unknown destination.

Those boys have grown up knowing that their evil act was pardoned,we are not aware what they are doing, how many other innocent people they might have killed.
