Tagore song, posted and translated by ranu

I will offer a prayer

for all my sorrows

at the end of this day.

My prayer of sorrow

is not completed.

When the evening shadow announces

the end of the day,

When the birds fly into their nest,

And the evening bell is rung for worship

then the last of my life’s light

will burn.

Memories of my pain

bind me in knots of deep despair,

It’s filled up in my mind this day

When the sacrificial fire of worship

releases the knots of my despair

One by one stars will appear ,

They will  fly freely in the sky

With the vision of  sunset

there will be preparations

to complete my prayer of sorrow!

  1. Very moving indeed. The lyricism of the original is enchanting (although I could not understand all the words), and your translation conveys the meaning with a beautiful simplicity 🙂 Thanks for sharing.
