Tagore song: amar bhanga pauther posted and translated by Ranu

Whose  footprints are  imprinted

On my  dusty red  path.

The petals of her garland,

are scattered  on the path,

I know they   belong to her.

She came quietly

informed me after she left.

Alas! who else can

make me weep except her.

Whose footprints do I see

on my broken  dusty red path?

She came in early dawn,

That day, Spring  came down to earth

in her colorful attire.

The path was strewn with flowers

I waited inside  all day for some news

There was none.

Today I will go out

on the same  dusty red path,

with my torn life!

  1. Dear Ranu,

Thank you for this! I very much like it when Tagore’s translated words manifest here on your blog. So very beautiful.

    All good wishes,

    robert

    • Dear Robert,
I translated this one before “Be Happy”, I waited till today, it’s a sad song and Christmas day wasn’t the appropriate time
to post it. Thank you for liking it.
