Tagore Song: Nishithe ki koye gelo, translated and posted by ranu

I am confused

My heart spoke at midnight.

I know not what it said

Was I asleep or awake?

I hear it at work,

returning home,

Or when I am

On the road.

It secretly rings

In my heart every moment.

I know not why

Those words

Unnecessarily pains my heart.

Is it fear, is it victory

Are  those words

Repeatedly telling me

No more, no more?

Is my heart telling me,

In various tunes

“Let us go far away.”

Are these words ringing

In my heart or in the sky?

I know not what my

Heart is telling me!

  1. Dear Ranu,

Thank you so very much for sharing these words of Tagore.

    “I know not what my

    Heart is telling me!”

I like the Tagore expresses things.

    All good wishes,

    robert

  2. Thank you for sharing these thoughts from Tagore. Listening to the original while reading the translation helps me to get in touch with the powerful magic of the original as well.

    I liked these lines especially:

“I know not what it said
    Was I asleep or awake?”
