Tell us about times in which you linger–when you don’t want an event,or a day to end. What is it you love about these times? Why do you wish you could linger forever?

There have been times when I wanted Time to Standstill. These are occasions when we invite our friends to dinner. It is a very enjoyable time.

It begins by me writing a list of things I’d like to cook for the guests, which dish of mine my friends like, what goes with it e.g, vegetables, rice, salad.

Once I make up my list I go to the supermarket to buy the ingredients. Then it’s preparing the dishes. Some take longer than others. I enjoy preparing it for the friends.

I always ask my guests to come at 6 pm, so they can have fresh cooked food, I don’t have to wait after I’m done cooking, the food loses its taste if I have to keep warming it up.

The arrival of guests is the best part, we are in a jovial mood we catch up with what is new with them.Food good friends are a joy for me, it brings out the best in my friends, we talk about children, food, our recent travels. We leave out work it’s not always pleasant.

After dinner I serve coffee or tea with dessert, I’m always happy to see my friends, they end up staying longer, who would want the evening to end, I like it a lot when it lingers.

365 Writing Prompts: Local Flavor

Write a piece about a typically “local” experience from you come from as though it’s an entry in a travel guide.

A visitor to our city would be enthralled by some of our bazaars. There is a delicious environment of food. The chefs take pride in their art of cooking. If the visitor enjoys food, he will not be disappointed, it is cheap, tasty and colorful.

Here is a video which shows the varieties of food:

Fiction: Engulf

Lillie McFerrin Writes

It was an eerie morning, clouds looked heavy, dark, nature was ready to lighten its load.

The town already had heavy snowfall for weeks, the weatherman feared if it starts to rain, there will be disaster, the roofs of the houses would cave in because of all the snow piled up on top, the  owners were warned they must clear the snow from the roofs before the rainfall.

Almost everyone knew what it means to have rain on top of snow, Marcus was aware of it too, he was old and weak, he could not go up to clear the snow, he waited patiently to have some kind of miracle to save him from getting swallowed up by the snow, the roof, the deluge.

He sat in one corner of his house and prayed to God to save him, he did not have the strength to do anything, he dozed off while praying, he dreamed an angel was talking to him, “do not be scared the voice said, I am here to save you.”

He opened his eyes, found himself in a cozy bed, someone was talking to him, it was the voice of a little girl, “Dear Marcus my Dad saved you and brought you to our house, you should not be afraid any more, from now on we all will take care of you!”
