Many countries celebrate Father’s Day and Mother’s Day.If you could dedicate a holiday  to a more distant relative, who would it be– and why?

If I could dedicate a holiday to my distant relative, I’d choose the  person who was not my relative but was very good to us.  We called him uncle, his wife treated my mother as her real sister. Even after she died uncle did not abandon us . He invited us to stay in his house when we visited Dhaka city(Bangladesh).

We stayed in his house for days , he always welcomed us. He was much better than our own uncles who did not care much for us after my father passed away.

If I could dedicate a holiday to a distant relative, I’d choose my distant uncle.

Tagore Song : Shandhya holo go o ma, singer Hemanta , posted and translated by Ranu

I have copied the male and female voices to show how it sounds.

I found this song this morning, I had to listen to it a few times to figure out the lyrics. It’s a song that evokes a melancholic mood.

This is how it begins:

Oh mother it is evening

It’s evening hold me

In this deep darkness

Let  your tenderness

Drown and cool me

It’s evening mother

Take it back, take it back

Everything is lost somewhere

Let this scattered life

Gather in your darkness

It’s evening mother

I don’t want my life to be visible

Anywhere outside you

Let your night unite

My  life’s beam of light

Surround me and kiss me

Only you, only you

Take whatever is on my mind

Oh mother make it yours and

carry it away!

365 Writing Prompt: From the gut

Tell us about the last time you had a real, deep, crying-from-laughing belly laugh.

I can remember only once when I was very young, my two older brothers were looking at a magazine, they saw something and started laughing, I came along and without knowing what was so funny that made them laugh,  burst into a hysteric laughter. It was so bad I could not stop myself. My eldest brother came and took the magazine away from my brothers, he threatened to hit us if we didn’t stop. My brothers stopped but I could not stop laughing.

It was so bad my tummy was hurting. After that incidence I do not recall having such a fit again.
