Daily Prompts: Roaring Laughter

pod-2016-sm.png (308×60)

What was the last thing that gave you a real authentic tearful, hearty belly laugh? Why was it so funny?

One evening while  we were studying in our college  library, one of the girl’s   heard a sound she  stopped , looked around,  got up and ran  out of the library. We didn’t hear anything, but were scared to see the girl running, we all  took our shoes off and followed her.

We were running and screaming Sister. The nuns came out of their rooms to find out why we were calling them. Sister Augustine Marie, our Principal went to the library to find out why we were screaming, there was nothing there, what she  found was  our shoes scattered all over the place. She turned around looked at us and said, “Girls what’s wrong with you?”

Her face looked so comical we forgot why we were so scared and burst out into an uncontrollable laughter. Our Principal  was not too pleased with our behavior, she was furious and told us to go to our dorm.

Daily Prompts: The Eighth Sin

pod-2016-sm.png (308×60)

Remember the seven cardinal sins? You’re given the serious task of adding a new one to the list — another trait or behavior you find particularly unacceptable for whatever reason. What’s sin # 8 for you? Why?

I’ve chosen “Lying” as sin #8.

In my mind lying in order to destroy a person is the worst sin I can think of. I’ve witnessed first hand what this eighth sin can do to innocent people.

Daily Prompts: Saturday Night

pod-2016-sm.png (308×60)

Tell us about the most exciting big night you had recently.

There are moments in our lives when nothing exciting happens. Recently I got a call from my friend, who was also my class friend in college. She has invited me to visit her in Whitby Ontario, Canada. I am excited I’d be able to see her. I’d be staying with her for at least a week. We’d catch up what we’ve been up to the time we didn’t get to see each other.

She wants me to go in July, every year they have a picnic, people they know come from all over Canada and also outside Canada. She’s told me it’s a lot of fun and each family brings a dish.I can’t wait to participate in this yearly event. It will be a great time to take pictures of foods, people and the park where it will take place.

Ontario is one of the provinces of Canada, Toronto is the capital. Before we came to St. John’s we thought of settling in Toronto, it didn’t happen. I’m excited I’d be able to see Evie and her family.

Until I actually arrive in Whitby, I’d be thinking of my friend and other people I’d be fortunate to meet at the picnic. Right now the very thought of going to Ontario makes me delighted.

Daily Prompts: Just Another Day

pod-2016-sm.png (308×60)

Our days are organized around numerous small actions we repeat over and over. What’s your favorite daily ritual?

I begin the day by waking up at least an hour before sunrise to say my morning prayer. Next I go to the kitchen ,make a cup of tea and some toast or porridge for breakfast. After breakfast I’d  go back to my room, pick up the book I’m reading, read until there is something else I  need to do.

Today I spent sometime washing my clothes, after I put them in the dryer. I did  not put all the clothes in the dryer I let some dry on the rack,I then ironed them.

I went to the basement and took out the clothes from the dryer when they were dry. I folded them and put them away.

I fed the felines and then had my lunch.

I checked my mail.

I’d continue reading the novel after I post this.

I don’t have to cook supper I have enough food to eat, in the fridge. All I have to do is heat and eat.

This evening after supper, I’d watch some TV, read the book again if I feel like it or study the languages a  few minutes at a time.

Finally it would be,”Bonne Nuit,” Good Night!

Daily Prompts: Quote Me

pod-2016-sm.png (308×60)

Do you have a favorite quote you return to again and again? What is it? and Why does it move you?

I have two favorite quotes of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the first “Governor General of Pakistan.”

One is, “Think 100 times before you take a decision; But once a decision is taken, stand by it as one man.”

Second is ,”There are two powers in the world; One is the sword and the other is the pen. There is a great competition between the two . There is the third power stronger than both, that of the women.”

As far as I understand , the first one is pointing to people who are not capable of making up their mind. Believe me there are  more than a few. I know some who are from my family, I was always irritated when they could not make up their mind. In the end I’d have a huge argument, the result was the decision finally made was always wrong. One can imagine how annoyed I was when I heard the sentence,”I should have listened to you.”

The second one about the power of women stronger than the  sword and pen, really makes me  proud.

Daily Prompts: Key Take away

pod-2016-sm.png (308×60)

Give your newer sister and brothers-in-WordPress one piece of advice based on your experiences blogging.

I started blogging towards the end of 2012. I was brand new in this field, truly speaking I didn’t even know the word, “Blogging,” I got interested when one of my classmates in the online course, started blogging. I read his post and thought of asking our facilitator, if I could do the same. He encouraged me wholeheartedly and even said, ” I was thinking of asking you to start blogging.”

With his encouragement I took my first baby steps, what will I write I  asked myself? Another classmate in the same course encouraged me to translate Tagore’s poems,”You are a Bengali he said, imagine how many people will be able to understand the poems of this great man.”

This was how I started writing. As time went on I met some amazing people, one of them was Leslie, she told me to read other posts of bloggers write my comment, it was one way of increasing my followers.

I also take part in WordPress’s daily post, every day we are given new prompts to help us with our writing. Things are great, I have lovely followers, who are kind and thoughtful.

I also took  advantage of writing poetry which  WordPress offered in 2015.

Lately I’m enjoying writing ,”Limericks,” it’s offered by, “Mind and life Matters.” These are great experiences for which I’m thankful to everyone who supported me.

I guess happiness does not last forever, sadness hit my blog very recently. I had just finished my morning prayer, and as usual I turned on my computer.

Waiting for me were three emails from the same person, a person whom I don’t know. In her  first one she used  the “F”word, which suddenly brought me down to earth. All I could think was,”Why?” I didn’t deserve this.

Second one started  with   “B” word.

In  third  one she said she will never follow me. I then told myself, I certainly do not want to be followed by this blogger.

I did not open any of these emails. When I looked at the comment section, the abusive comments were there. I deleted them and felt relieved, and hoped no one else read them.

This was one and only thing that made me unhappy.

I mentioned this experience to let the new sisters and brothers know not to be discouraged when or if something like this happens to them. There are a  lot of positives in blogging one negative thing should not stop them .

Daily Prompts: Not Lemonade

pod-2016-sm.png (308×60)

When life gives you lemons make something else. Tell us about a time you used an object or resolved a tricky situation in an unorthodox way.

This happened a while ago. I think it was the month of May my sister-in-law was furious with her husband. I had no idea what went wrong, so I was trying to pacify her by chatting about things which might bring back the smile on her face. Boy  O Boy, it turned out I was fanning the fire instead of relieving her from whatever was the cause of her irritation.

My brother-in-law knowing no other way to please the wife,  sought  my help. Apparently it was their marriage anniversary but my  not so dear brother-in-law forgot about this solemn occasion.

There I was kind of trapped in a situation which was making the whole atmosphere in the house dreadful. My sister-in-law can be quite crazy at times, no one can please her no matter how hard they try.

I was born into a family where stubbornness was never tolerated. My mom was the boss, you could never get your way by being obstinate.

My brother-in-law was pleading with me to come up with a solution, I sat on the chair thinking how to deal with this crisis. Suddenly I said, “Brother let’s go to watch a movie!”

He was mighty pleased because his wife liked the idea. We went to a movie hall to watch whatever was showing that day. I hated the movie and had a difficult time sitting through three hours of torture.

But the main thing was my brother-in-law was happy, his wife was no longer angry with him.
