Today’s prompt: Stairway

STAIRWAY QUOTES

Life is a series of steps.

Things are done gradually.

Once in a while there is a GIANT step,

but most of the time  we are taking small,

seemingly insignificant steps on the stairway of life.

By Ralph Ransom

I think we’re in a disposable world and

‘Stairway to Heaven’ is one of the

things that hasn’t quite been

thrown away yet.____ Robert Plant

Bloggers world: Guest Feature, the books I’ve recommended in this post

I’m pleased to recommend the following books.

The Miracle Of Mindfulness by Thich Nhat  Hahn translated by Moby Ho:  this book is all about practical exercise of learning the skills of mindfulness. The author emphasizes the fact that one must do things one at a time, whether it’s washing dishes, or eating an orange, the primary focus should be on that particular activity.I found it interesting and felt I always think of many things while I’m doing something, which results in getting the work done improperly. I recommend this book to all our readers.

The second book is Louisa May Alcott’s, “The Little Women.”  : It is a story of poverty, the characters were having a tough time dealing with it, when their school friends could afford whatever they wanted because they were wealthy, whereas the the little women could not. It teaches the main characters the most important thing in life is love and happiness, wealthy people are not always happy.

The third book I’d like to recommend is   The Da Vinci Code

The Da Vinci Code : I loved it, I would recommend it to any one who likes mysteries or even if they don’t, it captures the reader’s attention instantly. There are many twists and turns, just when you think  what’ll happen you find out how wrong you are. There is a  lot of suspense and drama.

Book # 4 is : To Kill A Mockingbird: This book is a first person narrative by the character, Scout Finch. It’s a novel of personal growth, social justice and injustice, and friendship. There is a lot of humour and heartbreak too. The story takes place in the 1930s a time when there was problems of prejudice and bias in America’s South.

Despite all this it is a very interesting book, where one learns to accept human beings regardless of their cultural difference. It is a book by Harper Lee and it is an American classic. It is a book I enjoyed reading and would recommend it to all those who love reading.

I liked the  other books I read also, but for now these are the ones, I decided to recommend.

Daily Prompt: WHISPER

pod-2016-sm.png (308×60)

Today’s one-word prompt: WHISPER

It’s morning where I live, our felines are napping, so I have to whisper, I do not want them to wake up because our naughty Raphael will make my life very unpleasant. When he’s sleeping, the house is as quiet as a  mouse.

I whisper I walk softly on my toes

Or I’ll have to deal with my felines  woes

When the felines are restless

I am somewhat  helpless

It is way better when I’m on my toes!

Daily Prompt: BORROWED

Today’s one-word prompt: Borrowed

I guess most times in some stage of our lives we’ve borrowed from someone. I’ve borrowed a few times from a relative. Once it was money, and another time a sari.

Money I borrowed because I received a scholarship to study far away from my home. I was  required to carry 500 rupees. So I borrowed the money, promising to pay as soon as I have the money. Years passed I hadn’t fulfilled my promise, suddenly I remembered I wasn’t given the money, rather I was supposed to pay her back. I had some US dollars which I gave her to pay back my loan, she had a smile on her face, she realized I had paid back much more than I owed.

The sari I borrowed was for a day only which I returned at the end of the day.

Daily Prompt: LOCKED

Today’s one-word prompt: LOCKED

Right now I’m occupied with the thought, when will I finish reading 25 books, is it May or might require part of June. I already read 21, from January 4th to April 23rd, 2016.

I still have 8 months left to complete my reading challenge this year, my speed has slowed down suddenly, my concentration has gone down the drain. This change  factor is making me concerned. All I’m thinking is what if I don’t get the last four books read on time.

It reminds me about the hare and the tortoise, I hope my initial speed does not make me over-confident and end up losing the race like the hare!

Daily Prompt: DISAPPOINTMENT

pod-2016-sm.png (308×60)

Today’s prompt : DISAPPOINTMENT

When I think of disappointment I think of my father. He sent my eldest brother to a very prestigious university to study in the faculty of engineering, my brother instead of becoming an engineer learned to waste his time with his friends. He never studied, my father was heartbroken but refrained from scolding my brother.

Now that I think of it I feel my father was too nice and his eldest son took advantage of his good nature.
