The Daily Post: Fence

In response to daily post’s one-word prompt: Fence

In the front of our house we have a hedge which does the job of a fence. The hedge is not friendly  it is a thorny one. I was once asked why we chose to have fence like that. Actually we are not responsible, the first owner must have decided to have a thorny hedge to keep the moose off his property.

The city has grown quite large, the moose or any kind of animals are afraid to come out of the forest, for their visit in this century can cost them their life. There are vehicles moving 24/7, those animals don’t have a chance.

We are protected from human intruders too, then there is the problem of littering, Tim Horton’s makes tons of money selling coffee we bear the brunt of it for them cups always find their way on our lawn. Coffee cups are not the only things found on our lawn, from candy wrappers, to plastic bags they all consider our lawn a safe haven.

Thank God for our lawn care people, they clear the garbage twice a year. I feel a fence surrounding a house gives it a personality.

The Daily Post: Prophecy

In-response to daily post’s one-word prompt : Prophecy

During the days of winter, I’m always afraid to hear the weather prediction. Most days we are told we’ll have a cold shivering day, we must dress warm when we go out. But when the weatherman says we’ll have a blizzard, there’ll be tons of snow, the stores will be closed, I feel afraid what if I need something urgent what will I do.

It seems the winter season makes us worry, about who will clear the snow, will too much snow and freezing rain make the driveway icy. The predictions of the weatherman is true most of the time. He has all the tools that help him make a correct forecast.

It is different for us ordinary humans, our day to day life can be worrisome. When our child is young we are concerned about the baby sitter looking after them, is she nice, is she careful, will she feed my child at proper times. While the weatherman can predict the weather, we cannot predict what sort of a person is our baby sitter.

When the child goes to school we wonder, how he or she’d perform, we start thinking of their future, if they are serious they’d do well, is the only prediction we can think of, we hope we are right, but we are not sure.

Summer is here, let us have a feast,

Summer is here, it’s time to barbecue,

Summer is here, fresh meat, and fish, and veggies too.

Summer is here, it’s time to enjoy  long days,

Summer is here, let us go  and watch the outdoor plays.

Summer is here, do not waste your time,

Summer is here, breathe all the fresh air it doesn’t cost a dime!
