Tagore Song : Aasha jaoar pauther dharay: singer Hemanta Kumar Mukherjee, Translated by ranu

Along the side of this pathway,

I spent my days singing

The time has come for me to depart

My distressed heart wants to know

who will be the recipient of my songs

I wish to divide the melodies into parts

some will mingle with the wayside flowers

Some of its tune I will bestow

on the edge of the clouds

In rich golden letters

at the time of my departure

some of my tunes will join

In the garlands of united hearts

there will be a few lonely parts,

which will bring tears to a pair of,

saddened eyes

some will find its way,

in the restless wind of some  spring day

under the bed of the forest

covered with flowers

will be found by  a dispassionate

individual,

looking for a part  of my grieved heart!

…………………………………….. 🙂

  1. My dearest sister,

Thank you very much for sharing this. As always, I find the thought of Tagore carrying a very haunting effect that pulls us in. I feel that it is captured in your translation 🙂
