In response to daily post’s prompt : Shiver
When I think of the approaching winter, I tremble with fear. There are so many things I need to think about, such as the accumulation of snow, who will clear it for me. This is not the only reason, there is the slippery driveway, and streets, also cars and other vehicles going out of control, because the owner did not change the tires.
The most problematic thing of all is when the power goes off. If the power is out for a long time, there is a danger of pipes freezing, frozen pipes are hazardous if and when they burst. It means a flooded basement, which leads to wet books and furniture and a lot of damage.
One winter we went to Dhaka, we came back after about a month and a half, we found our basement flooded, my husband’s medical books were wet, the newly laid carpets were damaged too. It was not fit to keep any of the damaged carpets or books, we had to throw them away.
But I guess if we live in a place with long winters we have to adjust ourselves. Nature is doing its work, we must not complain.
