#Introtopoetry,Day,Four: Journey
Poetic Device- Simile
‘Hurry,’ said my husband, ‘we have a long way to go,’
We got in the car, ready to see the long highway you know.
Some places the ride on the road was straight as an arrow
Then the twist and turns like a snake gave us the jitters.
To break the monotony, my husband yelled, ‘where are the fritters?’
………………………
Said the daughter, ‘get it quick, Mom
Dad’s hungry like a hippo,
only food will make him calm.’
‘Oh dear what will I do kiddo,
I think the food is left with the balm!’
…………………………..
Away drove my husband with a long face,
grumbling all the way, until he saw a place.
The sign read, ‘Fanny’s Delectable Food,’
Instantly it transformed my hubby’s mood.
……………………………
We filled our stomach with greasy eatable
‘Now are you glad?’ I asked my spouse.
‘No,’ he said, ‘I wish you didn’t forget the fritters,
the greasy food is giving me the jitters.’
………………………..
After all the arguments we were moseying along
Suddenly we saw a cop, who didn’t belong.
‘Stop the car,’ he yelled, ‘you were speeding!’
My better half tried his tricks,
It was no use the cop could not be convinced.
…………………………..
One hundred dollars was a heavy fine
My dear spouse was way out of line.
Nature was hinting why we had all these snaky turns
We ignored it, in the end it was a lesson we had to learn!
