Daily Prompt : Relieved

In response to one-word prompt : Relieved

I applied for a job when we came to Gander,

He told me, if I substitute I’d get one faster.

Unimpressed my husband told me to quit,

Sitting at home unhappy, cost me my wit.

Then I got a call from a school supervisor,

He wanted to know if I became any wiser.

I said, ‘unemployment is hurting my brain.’

He said, ‘let me see if I can relieve your strain.’

Then he magically got me a fascinating job,

‘Would you like to teach grade fours,’ asked Mr. Bob.

I told him, ‘I’m relieved, and  pleased to get this offer.’

And so started my long and arduous teaching career!

Daily Prompt : Bottle

In response to one-word prompt : Bottle

When politicians realize they can no longer plead innocent, they bottle  their anger briefly and minutes later explode like a bomb blaming everyone but themselves why things have gone so wrong.

These people either hit the bottle or shout at  the TV, because even it doesn’t support them. Truth always comes out, no matter how hard they try. Some are so arrogant they fight everyone in sight, even those who work for them.

Daily Prompt : Blossom

In response to one-word prompt : Blossom

I once planted a seed in our garden,

I watched it sprout and the soil harden.

It blossomed into a beautiful  plant,

The one who disliked it was my aunt.

She cursed  and yelled  until it withered in the garden!

Daily Prompt : Create

In response to one-word prompt : Create

One day I gathered a few ingredients,

Chicken, spices, and other components.

What can I create with these I wonder,

My mind said,’mix them up no need to ponder.’

I said, ‘ you’re wrong, it is not easy as you think,’

I took one look at the ingredients holding my drink.

After a few moment I screamed, ‘I know what to do,

Fry all the spices in a wok if you haven’t got  a clue.’

My mind told me to add the chicken last,

I stirred and stirred the  bird really fast.

What I produced was a yummy  chicken dish,

Only one  who ate it was my friend Mr. Fish!

Daily Prompt : Paragon

In response to one word prompt : Paragon

I do not  think politicians and lobbyists are paragons of honesty. They are only interested about themselves and care for no one else.

There was a time the people  elected for  government service  had to be honest and hardworking for the good of their community. If they were  found dishonest, they were removed immediately.

In our modern world, it seems honesty is not the best policy. We live in a complicated and selfish world where might is right is the motto. As such there is no such thing as an ideal government or a society.

Daily Prompt : Taper

In response to one-word prompt : Taper

There’s a raging snowstorm in our city,

I’m huddled at my house, it isn’t pretty.

The weatherman says it’ll taper off soon,

I do not believe it’ll wind down this June.

What’s your gut feeling about this storm,

I think it’s a sign the weather will turn warm!

Daily Prompt : Volume

In response to one-word prompt : Volume

Some songs are enjoyable when the volume is high,

In case of others I wonder when will it end, Oh My!

Some authors’ books are about the size of an encyclopedia,

I find them difficult to handle and think it’s a bad idea.

I buy cooking oil in bulk , it’s a great way to save money,

I do not think I’ll do the same when I need to buy honey.

Sometimes the word volume gives us a lift,

Most times it’s not favorable if you use it as a gift!

Daily Prompt : Triumph

In response to the one-word prompt : Triumph

I watched with delight Jelena’s success,

It wasn’t easy to believe she’d win I guess.

The twenty-year old had nerves of steel,

Which is what she must do to win, I feel.

Daily Prompt : Tender

In response to daily post’s  prompt : Tender

Our Feline Sophie

We saw our new addition in a  pet  store. She was up for adoption, I saw a striking resemblance of her with our adorable JD, who died years ago of cancer.

This little feline  weighed less than a kilo. She was initially named Daphne by the SPCA, I felt the name did not suit her.

My daughter and I were discussing the right name for this delicate kitten, suddenly I said out loud, ‘what about Sophie?’  It was a perfect name for her I thought. Both my daughter and I agreed to name her, Sophie.

A few days later I noticed the kitten, could not meow, in other words, something was wrong with her vocal  cord  . We could not get back to the SPCA to find out what happened. All they told us, they saw her in Bell Island with another cat, they were able to capture Sophie but the other one got away.

Today Sophie is a sweet, soft, and kind-hearted cat, she gets along well with the  other two felines!
