Daily Prompt : Finally

In response to one-word prompt : Finally

Finally today is the last day of year 2017,

I’m hoping the coming of new year 2018,

Will get rid of all the disappointments,

Like world hunger, violent storms,

I hope humanity will concentrate,

On the unfortunate people around the globe!

Daily Prompt : Almost

In response to one-word prompt : Almost

On my way to the bus stop, I crossed the street, I walked a few steps and was close to the stop, when I noticed the bus pulling away I wished I came   five minutes earlier.

I was  almost there, I took a few steps now that I  missed the bus, wondering should I go home or wait another thirty minutes to get the next bus.

I could not decide if I should stay or leave, my hesitancy kept me on the spot for at least twenty minutes. I convinced me  all I need is ten minutes, to get the bus.

Ten minutes  vanished like a puff of smoke. I looked up, saw the bus coming,  I congratulated myself for my patience to WAIT!

Daily Prompt : Extravagant

In response to one-word prompt : Extravagant

Imagine me a penniless student,

Visiting the  pricey Harrods shop.

This is a store  where the queen shops,

I went in and quietly walked in soft steps.

I noticed a huge sign, I stepped forward,

The sign was large and each letter were flashing, ‘SALE.’

I felt at ease, perhaps, I can buy something here.

I overheard two rich women who stopped by and

Exclaim, ‘This is on sale? I think even for us

This  is terribly “EXTRAVAGANT!”

‘Even for you,’ I softly replied.

The way they looked at me it felt as if,

Their large eyes were ready to grab my tongue!

Daily Prompt : Cozy

In response to prompt : Cozy

These days Nature is in a furious form,

Showing its wrath by sending storm.

Our felines and my daughter are shaking,

Thinking of appeasing Nature by baking.

Or better yet lie in my cozy comfy bed,

And derive pleasure from the books I read.

While Nature kicks up a fuss continues its fury,

And makes us earnestly look for judge and jury!

Daily Prompt : Confess

In response to one word prompt : Confess

Last year there was a lot of change,

In governments which was strange.

The  people chosen  to govern,

confess  are not fit to run a tavern.

How did this terrible thing happen?

A group thought all of a sudden,

They’d decide who is the smartest,

But these people are not the brightest!

Daily Prompt : Proclivity

In response to one-word Prompt  :  Proclivity

I have a proclivity to watch children whom I teach,

One thing I noticed they  have their likes and dislikes.

One year I noticed a girl assigned to me hated school,

I told the principal, ‘I think I’ll have problems with her.”

He looked at me in awe,  ‘but you didn’t start teaching yet,’

‘I know,’ I said,  ‘my sixth sense alerts me she’d give me trouble.’

He advised me to see her parents, he said,  ‘they will cooperate.’

I saw the parents, talked to them, they smiled and looked at each other.

This is what they said, ‘We are surprised, because it’s true,

she really hates school!’

Daily Prompt : Cherish

In response to today’s Prompt : Cherish

cherish the memory of the days,

When we enjoyed ourselves many ways.

They were the kind of dreams we loved,

We played, we laughed under the sky above.

Those childhood days were the best in our life,

I wish I could  cling to them without strife!

Daily Prompt : Mild

In response to prompt : Mild

I wish this winter is mild,

So far it is looking quite wild.

We must  do our part nicely,

Nature sure will  act wisely.

It’s give and take we must remember,

If we’re fair to nature it’ll help us forever!

Daily Prompt : Torn

In response to prompt : Torn

Imagine the child who sees so many options,

He is torn for he cannot decide what he wants.

Mom says choose one, he replies, can I have two?

Between Mom and the kid the argument lingers on.

And before they know it it’s already Christmas,

I wonder who wins, Mom or the one who’s Torn!

Merry Christmas to one and all and a very Happy New Year!!

Daily Prompt : Miraculous

In response to prompt : Miraculous

Imagine a family walking on the street among enemies who were knocking down people and looting houses, amidst all this violence this family kept their cool and went onwards to their destination.

The only thing they carried was the Holy Quran!

They were not killed, in fact no one touched them. To me this is certainly Miraculous!
