Daily Prompt : Cavity

In response to prompt : Cavity

Stuffed Turkey

It is an interesting job to stuff a Turkey,

While cleaning the bird , I said Mercy.

Inside the bird there was a large cavity.

I washed it and rubbed salt to prepare it,

I used bread, butter, onion and salt a bit.

Closed the large cavity with some pins,

Put it in the roaster and exclaimed what a sin.

I imagined how it looked when it was alive,

And felt   sorry that when cooked we’ll dive .

To carve it into bite size pieces to fill our stomach,

Never caring the cruel ways we satisfy our stomach!

Daily Prompt : Inkling

In response to prompt : Inkling

Each day I get an inkling about our felines,

Are they as innocent as they look?

Or is it  a façade as they say in the book.

I could not find my pen one day,

I sensed it’s one of our felines I can  say.

Our  Sophie was the one I thought in my mind,

But she is not a  thief she’s not that kind.

If it’s not her then who else must I blame?

My daughter yelled, ‘it’s her, what a shame!’

Daily Prompt : Dominant

In response to prompt : Dominant

Bangla (Bengali) is the dominant language in Bangladesh. Majority of the people in Bangladesh, speak Bengali.

Not everyone in this country speak proper Bengali,  they speak a dialect which resembles the language.

It’s kind of like in U.K where not all the citizens speak RP( received pronunciation). It is the accent of Standard English in the United Kingdom and is defined in the concise Oxford English Dictionary as the standard of English as spoken in South Of England.

In Bangladesh some of us call it the book language. The received Bengali accent is spoken by a few people. Different provinces have their own dialect, which is not difficult to understand, only the dialect  of people from Chittagong, sounds like a different language.

It is like Cockney in U.K which is a problem to understand  for visitors.

Daily Prompt : Tardy

In response to prompt : Tardy

Some days I want to take it easy,

Everything then is all topsy-turvy.

What’s the harm if I’m tardy one day,

My mind like my body is lethargic today.

I’ve watched in sports the best teams,

Cannot do their best as their fans dream.

We should give them a break once in a while,

So they can come back next time with perfect style!

Daily Prompt : Candid

In response to prompt : Candid

Eid-al Fitr follows one whole month of Ramadan, it’s mandatory for Muslims to   fast during Ramadan. Some kids start when they’re eight years old. frankly speaking I tried one day to fast during Ramadan, it wasn’t food that bothered me, I just could not handle one whole day of no water until sunset.  There I was in the bathroom taking a shower and drinking water until I quenched my thirst.

This pricked my conscience for quite sometime. I realized it was better not to pretend to fast, I did not like deceiving my Dad, I knew he’d be disappointed.

Coming to the subject of Eid-al-fitr, it’s a day we celebrate by visiting friends, eat whatever they give us and head on to the next house. For this particular Eid day, my Dad  could not afford to buy new clothes for all of us, so he told my mom to buy only for my eldest sister.

Mom knowing how outspoken I was quietly told me this is what they both decided.

In my mind I decided I cannot let this happen, so I was candid about it I said, ‘if no one gets new clothes, the eldest sister should not get it either.’

I refused to wear old clothes, Mom told Dad about this he agreed to buy clothes for me too.

Somewhere out their my sister was listening in on our conversation. Mom asked me, ‘what color do you like?’

As soon as I said, ‘I want blue Mom.’

My sister yelled out from her room,  ‘she should stop wearing blue clothes all the time, this time buy her red,’

Mom was in a hurry she went to the shop and bought red material for my outfit. When she came home, she smiled, ‘Look I bought red for you.’

In a fit of anger I said,   ‘give it to her, I don’t want it.’

Mom went back and bought blue material . When she showed it I said,  ‘I want both the red and the blue.’ This is how candid I was!

To get rid of this evil thing by blinking.’

‘Oh dear,’ says Mom, ‘let me see if I can help,’

‘But Mom you’re not a doctor, take me  to  Dr. Phelp.’

Away mom drives  car without watching  speed limit,

Cop in the middle says, ‘Wait, my dear  lady a minute.

This is not a highway, I’d like you to know,’

‘I must get to the doctor, please let me go.

Only Doc can help she let off a sigh!’

Daily Prompt : Agile

In response to today’s prompt : Agile

My Agility On Ice

When I came to Montreal, my  husband wanted to test my agility on ice, needless to say I was a total failure.

Each time I went to  Mount Royal Park in Montreal, I tried to learn to stand on ice with my skates on,forget how slow or fast I was, I could not stand on ice.

I watched little kids moving freely without a care in the world. One little  girl came to help me, she extended her hand, there I was trying to take the hand but couldn’t, I fell down. I thanked her and told her, ‘I cannot skate.’

I asked her to go on and enjoy herself, I knew I was wasting her precious time.

Knowing I wasn’t agile on ice, I tried to know if I was sharp learning Canada’s second language French. I was glad my brain could cope with the language, even though my feet weren’t agile!
