Daily Prompt : Astral

In response to prompt : Astral

Astral or Visionary

Ever since I read , after death  man leaves his astral body on earth,

Astral or sidereal, what is it I thought, it relates to the distant stars,

Or make it more meaningful it is their apparent position in the sky.

If that is so when I see the stars, I’d assume they are my parents,

Discussing their plans with the siblings that joined them about us.

I wish I could magically go and overhear what they are saying about us,

It’d be so awesome no one can understand what a pleasure such a journey is,

For me, for anyone on this earth who is as curious as I am!

Daily Prompt : Premonition

In response to prompt : Premonition

My Premonition

While walking down the street one day from school,

I had a premonition the biker looking like a fool,

I feared  would  knock me down  and make me fall,

My intuition was right he lost control and I did fall.

The shopkeeper saw it and scolded him wildly,

‘If you can’t ride a bike leave it home,’ he said loudly.

After that accident I have lost my trust on bikers,

What if this biker also  knocks down a hiker!

Daily Prompt : Imagination

In response to word prompt : Imagination

Imagination Or Vision

Robert Schuller once said, “Let your imagination release your imprisoned possibilities.”

I agree with Robert Schuller imagination does help the mind to be creative.

When I use the prompts to write poetry, I find myself thinking of various ways to write poetry!

Daily Prompt : Congregate

In response to one-word prompt  : Congregate

Rule versus Fool

Sometimes we congregate to celebrate,

Sometimes our teacher meets us to humiliate.

Such an event happened when we broke the rule,

We knew we convened because we acted like a fool.

We could not forgive the girl who told on us,

Her motive was to show she was better than us!

Daily Prompt : Conversant

In response to prompt : Conversant

I’m indebted to my father who made sure we knew our mother tongue, and spoke it when we were in the house.

Dad encouraged us to learn other languages, it was easy for us siblings, we grew up in a city where  our neighbors children spoke Urdu, this helped us  learn it.

We attended schools where the medium of instruction was English.  We were young didn’t feel it was difficult to learn these languages, it was natural.

Now I feel great knowing, I am conversant with English, Urdu and Bengali. I don’t have to translate these languages before I speak.

Children can learn languages at a young age if they grow up in a city where the neighbors speak a different language which is not their mother tongue!

Daily Prompt : Constant

In response to WordPress prompt :  Constant

Her constant repetition of the word drove me crazy,

I’m not sure this  weird way of learning to spell is easy.

My student’s  mom spent an hour to teach him spelling,

After five days of nonstop spelling didn’t help his learning.

Frustrated she decided to give me a call to know the trick,

I said, ‘ your continual repetition will only make him sick!’

Daily Prompt : Compromise

In response to prompt : Compromise

The Ultimate Compromise!

Two little kids were having a fight,

One tortilla between them wasn’t right.

They complained to a traveler passing by,

Who agreed to split it evenly, give it a try.

He tore it but one piece was larger,

None of them agreed  to take the smaller.

The traveler ate part of it to make it even,

But he ate more of the one that was uneven.

The tortilla slowly was smaller in size,

The traveler  knew he was unwise.

To attempt to help split it for the kids,

In the end he started  scratching his eyelids.

The boys looked at each other in surprise,

This was certainly not a good compromise!
