Intro to Poetry, Day Four: Journey

Poetic Device : Simile

‘Hurry,’  said hubby, ‘it’s a long way to go,’

The highway was as straight as an arrow.

Suddenly the road looked like a slithering snake,

Impending danger frightened us as we neared a lake.

………………………………………

Y’all be not afraid announced our experienced driver,

Soon after the car hit something hard and heavier.

‘I’m not sure what it was don’t worry, said our hero,

But I noticed the fuel tank indicator turned  to zero.

…………………………………

Hubby the driver hit the panic button,

We went to the nearest gas station.

The guy at the station showed a blank face,

Said, ‘worry not yo gentle man, act like an Ace.’

……………………………..

Worry is my hubby’s middle name,

He thought what will all the same.

Finally we arrived in Newfoundland,

Which looked as lonely as a crow on the sand!
