365 days, June 22nd: No thank you

No, thank you.

If I could permanently ban a word from general usage, which one would it be? Why?

I’ve read this prompt more than once, the only word that comes to mind is the four letter word, which is the “F” word.

I feel it belittles a person who utters it, and degrades a person who receives it.

Surely the English language has a very rich vocabulary, why should anyone destroy its beauty by demeaning it.

  1. Dear Ranu,

Thank you for this. It reminds me of what a school principal once told me about those who use curse words. He told me that they do because, in addition to some other reasons, they are simply uneducated and unaware about the great wealth of words available that could instead be used.

    All good wishes,

    robert

    • Dear Robert,
Thank you so much. I thought about it. I remember how strict our nun teachers were regarding the language we use in our daily life. ๐Ÿ™‚
