A story

One night I had a strange dream. I was unable to figure out why I had this dream. I became restless and decided my mom will know the reason.

I looked for her, she was busy with her daily cooking. ‘I said, ‘Ma stop your cooking ; I want you to interpret my dream right now.’

She looked at me and replied, ‘listen Ranu, whatever it is, has to wait. I cannot ruin what I’m doing. You must know if the food is not cooked on time, your siblings would want to eat me. I do not want to take a chance.’

I was bothered by this and thought, perhaps I must ask the scientists to invent a pill. It would certainly help me, mom wouldn’t be a slave of the kitchen and I can relate all my dreams to her. Mom would be at liberty to interpret my dreams.

After completing her kitchen duty. She yelled out, ‘Ranu what did you dream?’

I said, ‘you took so long I forgot.’

‘Good,’ mom said, ‘you must not relate your dreams to anyone.’

‘Why? ‘ I said.

She said, ‘if someone interprets your dream and tells you be careful you’ll be in trouble. It will happen. Always one should interpret any dream as it’s very good.’

That holy dream___that holy dream,

While all the world were chiding,

Hath cheered me as a lovely beam,

A lonely spirit guiding.______ Edgar Alan Poe

Iqbal The Poet

I read the following lines written by Iqbal and wondered what exactly does he mean?

Khudi ko kar buland itna ke har taqdeer se pehle

Khuda bandey se khud poochta hai, bata teri raza kia hai

Translation given is: The more humble one becomes, God would have to ask the human. What is your opinion about this?

The first word Khudi means Self. The poet tells us to raise our self to new heights The self height is achieved by being humble and developing love for all.

The lower one goes in being humble, the higher he/she will rise in success.

Life Lesson: Buddha

Loneliness is better than bad company.

“Standing Alone Doesn’t Mean You Are Alone

It Means You are strong enough

To handle things

All by yourself.”

…………………………………….

No matter how alone

You think you are

God is just a

Prayer Away.

……………………………………

Choose Solitude

Not Loneliness

Loneliness Expresses the pain of being alone

Solitude Expresses the glory of being alone

” People think being alone

Makes you lonely.

But I don’t think it’s true,

Being surrounded by

The wrong people is the

Loneliest thing in the world.”

Poetry, Day Ten : Future(theme: Sonnet)

I’m looking for a new tomorrow

When we’re happy and never sad

The scientists will remove our sorrow

By inventing a vaccine that’ll make us glad

That day will come I kid you not

Have patience don’t be restless

Our elders use these words a lot

Let faith give you happiness

Do your duty follow the rule

Wear your mask don’t complain

This is one way of looking cool

I assure you it’s how you’d gain

Show the virus you’re smarter

That you can get rid of it forever!

Lady Irwin Was my first school,

Teachers were friendly and cool.

I learned English,Math,and Bengali,

The school was started in New Delhi.

Here I learned the national anthem,

We memorized it when we were young.

Behind the large gates we often walked,

Pooris for sale she lovingly called.

Then Bengali lesson my teacher announced,

I have pictures for you all to write a story,

Let’s see if you are ready to work my dear-ie.

I loved this school because of the great teachers,

I know you’d love those God’s awesome creatures.

Poetry, Day Eight : Pleasure( poetic device: anaphora)

Pleasure is teasing my brother when he ate my candy,

And reminding him off and on he is really not dandy.

Pleasure is recovering nicely from that dreadful pain,

Hoping that nasty thing will never show up ever again.

Pleasure is feeding my favourite feline Sophie,

Praying she will never be frightened no sir-ee.

Pleasure is voting for my favourite leader,

Believing he will win which will be sweeter.

Pleasure is talking about my dear dad,

Who loved us cared for us and never was mad.

This is an image of Shimla town,

’tis a pretty place said the clown.

I like it because of its cool breeze,

I sincerely believe everyone agrees.

The grating noise of carriage is unpleasant,

A tourist should always deal with the present.

Records show many tourists visit in summer,

I wonder what they do in the cold winter.

You would love the green trees with boughs,

Sally wishes to see the mountain she sighs.

I asked, ‘who knows the town better?’

The reply, ‘and this you’ll find out later!’

The following are the words I used

from Matthew Arnold’s ten pages of poetry book:

us, through, a, town, are, mountain, better, boughs,

what, of, believe, who, we, grating, records, and,

’tis, sighs,

you, cool,

Goodbye to Gander

With heavy hearts we left our house,

All around us was as quiet as a mouse.

The clouds above us bid us good-bye,

Saying, we’re as sad as an orphan nigh.

Are we making a mistake I thought,

No, came the whisper you are not.

Your husband is as sick as our feline JD,

He needs a doctor as good as Brady.

The journey was as smooth as cream,

We arrived home as if it was a dream!
