Everyday Inspiration,Day Seven:Let Social Media Inspire You

Day Seven: Let Social Media Inspire You

“You’ve gotta dance like there’s nobody watching,
Love like you’ll never be hurt,
Sing like there’s nobody listening,
And live like it’s heaven on earth.”
William W. Purkey

I picked this quote from Goodreads, the social media tweets were not inspiring me.I find William Purkey’s quote very encouraging.

Why should I care if people are watching me dancing, if I am getting pleasure doing it, I should give my heart and soul to it. Let the world do their own thing to please themselves.

The problem with love is we do get hurt, whether it’s a spouse, a friend or even a child, they are capable of hurting us, if we love thinking we won’t get hurt, it’ll cause us to suffer, if we love unconditionally without hoping to get  a return, we will be at peace, with ourselves. This seems to be the only way to love, unconditionally that is!

In my childhood I was fond of singing, I’d sit in the corner of our house and sing. There was no one listening, but the happiness I derived from it is unimaginable.

In my judgement any place on earth can be a heaven, if we want it to be. After all what do I know of heaven or paradise, I only know what I’ve read. It’s not like someone actually went to heaven and came back with the news what the place is like.  I know I’ve seen some books titled, “Heaven is Real.” I do not feel any satisfaction from it.

But I do like it when I’m contented with myself, I have nice people around me who care, I get to go out to watch a movie or have dinner in a restaurant, these things make me happy. Also I’m not sick, I’m allowed to eat whatever I want  within reason. It feels like I’m in heaven!

Everyday Inspiration,Day Six: The space to Write

Day Six: The Space to Write

In my bedroom, I have a  small desk on the right of my bed, this is  where I placed my laptop, since I started blogging. On its left is another small piece of furniture, it has a drawer at the bottom, in the middle there is a small space with two doors. I’ve stored some of my books, and on the very top there is a flat space, this is where I have books that I need to use for my daily writing.

My bedroom is the extension of the main house, it was built so my husband didn’t have to climb the stairs of our two- storeyed house every day.

I find the space ideal for my writing, even though I do not have small children to bother me. I do have three felines who can be a problem, like sitting on the keyboard of the laptop, or chew the extension cord, or even try to put their paw on the screen.

I keep them away by closing my door, if they were kids I could talk to them, but a feline it’s not possible.

The space in my bedroom is the best place for me to write!

Everyday Inspiration, Day Five: Hook ‘Em With A Quote’

Day Five: Hook ‘Em With a Quote’

True happiness is to enjoy the present, without anxious dependence upon the future, not to amuse ourselves with either hopes or fears but to rest satisfied with what we have, which is sufficient, for he that is so wants nothing. The greatest blessings of mankind are within us and within our reach. A wise man is content with his lot, whatever it may be, without wishing for what he has not.__Senecca

While looking for an appropriate quote, I hit upon this one. I must admit, to me it’s the best quote I have read.

I believe in enjoying the present instead of worrying about the future. I am satisfied with what I have, I do not envy others who have more.I did as much as I could and feel it is time for me to enjoy myself. As long as I am healthy I cannot complain about anything else.

I have good friends who take  time to call me, inquire how I am and invite me to visit them. I appreciate everything I get from friends and my daughter. I think I’m a very lucky person.

I go out when I want to, I use my time reading books by great writers. I have what it takes to be happy. I am very lucky.

I remember one of my teacher’s wrote in my Autograph Book,

“Dear Chaman,

May God keep you ever loyal and may His blessings be continually showered upon you.”

Everyday Inspiration, Day Four: A story In a Simple Image

Day Four: A story in a simple image

This image reminds me of the time,

I used  to   wait for the train,

it was called ‘Green arrow,’ from the time

it entered the station, the porters and the passengers,

would hurry to board it, it stopped at our station,

only  for three minutes.

When I think about it I  wonder how did I manage,

to board the train in such a short time?

Now when I look back I say,”it must have been a dream!”

Everyday Inspiration, Day Three : Regret

Day Three : One-word inspiration: Regret

#everyday inspiration day three

Our lives wouldn’t be complete if we had no regret. How can it be we are humans, we are liable to make mistakes. When I was studying in the university I promised myself, I will help my siblings as much as I can, when I complete my studies and get a job.

The day came for me to fulfill my promise, I got a teaching job in a local school. I immediately sent money to my brother and sister through someone. I later found out they received the money but were not told who sent it. The person I trusted  gave the money, but made them think she had given it.

When I found out I was sorry I did not send them the money directly. I knew the time had passed and my siblings would think I broke my promise.

I later learned  no matter what I did for anyone, I wasn’t appreciated. Now I keep myself aloof and do things that make me happy.

I saw a stray kitten in the pet store recently, she resembled our previous feline, though she looked malnourished and sickly I decided I will adopt her. She now is a picture of health, when she looks at me , I feel she is saying, ‘Thank you for adopting me I am so happy here.’

At last I got the appreciation I was looking for, even though it’s from a tiny animal. I have no regrets about giving her a home.

Everyday Inspiration,Day Two : Write a List

Day Two : Write a List

Today let’s write a list

Today I have chosen: Things I’ve Learned

  1. I’ve learned God has created us with a free will, how we use it depends on what is important and how it benefits us.
  2.  I’ve learned we all know what is wrong and what is right. If we choose what is right it’s more likely to keep us out of trouble.

3.That we are indebted to our parents for taking care of us from infancy till we are independent.

4.Each one of us is born with a special gift, some of us take advantage of it, some of us do not.

5.We are like passengers of a train, when we reach our destination we leave.

6.We all have a good heart, circumstances make us do things we are not proud of.

7.We start learning after our birth, we cry when we are hungry, or uncomfortable,or if we need attention. Because we are incapable of talking, we cry to let our caretakers know, we need attention.

8.We start by talking a few words, then as we grow older, our vocabulary increases, all because we want to learn about everything around us.

9.Some of us learn faster than others and usually are better students.  I’ve learned children can learn languages faster than adults. Perhaps  they are not afraid to speak.

  1. children can learn languages faster than adults.

Everyday Inspiration, Day One : I write Because

Day One : I Write Because

Why do I write because I have this fear my brain will be rusty, and just as rust makes holes on the metal, same thing will happen to me. There’ll be holes in my brain and when it does I won’t be able to function as a normal human being.

When the rust gets hold of anything it simply destroys it. Our old cars died because of rust. I like to live a normal life, where I can contribute my ideas and also prevent my brain from the terrible rust. It will take away my thinking power, I won’t be able to interact with people any kind, doesn’t matter who they are.

I also write for entertainment, I think of these nonsensical ideas which people might sneer at, but i like to interact with myself, putting down my thoughts on paper gives it permanent base,if I try to keep it inside me my mind will explode due to over stuffing it. Some people i noticed can write without thinking but i need to think.

Sometimes I think in my mother tongue, for the proper English word was on strike I therefore thought of using my mother tongue which I was born with. My mother tongue is Bengali, Tagore’s language, I feel excited that Tagore and I speak the same language. Oops it just came to me Tagore has passed away, wherever he is he’s probably making up another language, isn’t it terrific. When he was alive he was a polyglot. What is he now I wonder?

#Everyday Inspiration, Day Twenty: Course Wrap it Up

Day Twenty: Wrap it Up

There was one assignment I enjoyed writing, in which I did experience an ‘Aha!’ moment.

It was Day eighteen where I wrote a series of anecdotes. It gave me great pleasure to relive that summer holiday. As I was thinking I didn’t know if I’d be able to reproduce my experience in words. When I started writing it seemed like watching a movie, changing scenes where different things were  happening one after the other and I was the one watching this three-week movie. There were sad and happy news. It was sad my husband’s boss passed away, he was such a jovial personality. He loved teasing me by saying,”so you are learning to drive, do not drive on my street, I don’t want to see an accident.”

It’s so sad to know he died in an accident while driving his car, it wasn’t his fault, did destiny make him say those words, which happened to him a year later, I wonder!

When I think of our lives we take the good with the bad and eventually block off the bad and relive the good.

#Everyday Inspiration, Day Seventeen: A Map As Your Muse

Day Seventeen : A Map As Your Muse

Baltimore Street is in the corner of Elizabeth Avenue. If you walk along Elizabeth Ave., you will see  newly constructed houses on your right, keep walking until you come to the light, cross the street, still on Elizabeth Ave, you will find a gas station on your right, keep walking, you will see another street, do not cross the street, but turn on your right and you will see the Shopper’s Drugmart, walk until you are facing the store, on its right there are doors leading inside, go in and you will see a Tim Horton’s Doughnut place, on its left there are stairs going down where there is a shop where you can order, tea or coffee, and some sandwiches, there are chairs outside the store to sit and enjoy your coffee.

You can get out and walk in the park, where there is a soccer field. To go to the park you have to cross the road . It is opposite the Churchill square strip mall, There is a statue of Winston Churchill. This is all for now.
