DP Daily Prompt: Buffalo Nickel

Dig through your couch cushions, your purse,or the floor of your car and look at the first coin you find. What were you doing that year?

I dug out a dime from my huge, “Eddie Bauer Bag, ” it shows 1914. the winter that year was harsh, we had heaps and heaps of never ending snow. Nature was in a bad mood, perhaps we did not recycle the items we should have, did not try to use carpool to avoid using more fuel than is necessary for our daily life.

Then I had a bird in our chimney who by chance landed in a place where it could not get out from, our felines were not liking the noise the bird was making to get out. Finally I was able to get hold of the ‘Orkin Man,’ he successfully got the poor hungry  bird out and took him to give it some food and let it fly away to its home in the wilderness.

My daughter and I visited our favorite city,’Montreal’ we rented an apartment for ten days, we walked, shopped and had a great time, at the end of our holidays, we realized we bought more things than we should have, therefore had to buy extra suitcase to bring them home.

Back at home we were afraid winter was peeking its silly head,we knew we  have to be prepared for it.

The month of December in 1914 was awesome, we did have snow but the rain washed it away and in our city we had green Christmas, it’s something very unusual. I liked the thought of no snow no shoveling.

These are some things I remember about 2014!

DP Daily Prompts: To Be Resolved

pad2014-s.png (308×60)

We’re entering the final days of 2014–how did you do on your New Year’s resolutions these past 11.75 months? I s there any leftover item to be carried over to 2015?

The words final days sounds so dreadful and permanent. I cannot recall making any resolutions particularly on New Year’s day 2014.

What I’ve done so far is I resolved to take care of certain things on a daily basis, some I do, others I just ignore, I tell myself I am not in a mood or there is something else more important than the one I am thinking about.

One thing I never leave by the wayside is writing my prompts, something about them makes me do it, I wish I knew what it is that drives me to write these prompts. It is not that I have a queue waiting out to read  my blog, there is only one, God bless him he clicks the like button and writes his comment with so much gusto that I feel I can never disappoint him.

Coming back to leftovers, they are a way of my life, I am so thankful to whoever invented the refrigerator, I get to put away the unconsumed food in that wonderful appliance.

I do have a lot of leftover items to be carried over to 2015, it is my basement. I have to set things in order. There are so many things in there I sometimes wonder, why did I put them in the basement, I could throw them out, but I don’t know about others there is always that pack rat mentality, which stops me from discarding anything. I now am facing the problem of an overstuffed basement with things I may never use.

Yes my New Year’s resolution in the coming year 2015 is to clean my basement, I cannot make any other resolution, this alone may take me a good part of 2015!
