Tagore song: Tomar khola hawa

I lift the sail to your open breeze

By dividing the cable into pieces

I agree to drown in your open breeze

My morning was useless

My afternoon is not much better

Do not hold me back or confine me

Near the shore

I am willing to drown

I stay awake all night for the boatman

The waves take me and play with me

I will befriend the storm,

I will not be afraid of its frown

Release me I’m happy when it’s stormy!

five minute fiction: Fearless

Lillie McFerrin Writes

Geeta a twenty year old college student once told her friends she was not afraid of anyone or anything, her friend Nellie challenged her she said, “Come to my party this week-end, I’ll see how much of your claim is believable.

Geeta was prepared, she felt the week-end was not coming soon enough.

On the day of the party Geeta was thrilled, she felt Nellie made an idle threat, she was going to show what she is made of.

At five thirty  that day  Geeta left the house and took a bus to Nellie’s house, she got off at the right stop and was walking along the street, all of a sudden a noise startled her, thinking it was a noise made by some foolish kid, she moved on, then to her dismay the noise became louder, she ignored this noise too and didn’t think anyone was trying to get her attention, she looked around to see where the noise was coming from, there was nothing visible, she had barely taken a step when she saw a giant figure, she couldn’t tell if it was a man or a beast, she turned around to go the other way, the creature grabbed her, she froze and started trembling violently, all that came out of her was,”Let me go please”.

Then the most unbelievable thing happened, there in front of her was Nellie, laughing like a crazy person,”Well Gita  I know what you mean by you are not afraid, now that I got my answer let’s go home for dinner,Mom cooked the most delicious meal just for you the fearless girl!”

DP Daily Prompt: Freudian Flips

pad2014-s.png (308×60)

Do you remember a recent dream you had?Or an older one that stayed vivid in your mind? Today you are your own Freud: Tell us the dream, then interpret it for us ! Feel free to be as serious or humorous as you see fit, or invent a dream if you don’t remember a real one.

Many decades ago there was a girl who had dreams that sometimes frightened her and  at other times answered the questions  she wondered about in a dream.

The girl’s name was ‘Mollika’ meaning  flower  in English. For a few months she was disturbed by the fact that her sister  Shilpi  was keeping all the money she was told to divide between all the siblings.

Here is what the brother told her, “Shilpi” you are the beneficiary of my will, after my death please divide the money among the siblings.”

Shilpi promised she would. She told her older sister about the conversation with the brother and let her know she did not want to divide the money ,the older sister agreed  to protect her.

The brother died, it was a huge amount of money, Shilpi was in no mood to divide it,she wanted all of it. The older sister was happy to get her share.

Mollika the sister who knew the story told the siblings about the brother’s death wish. All of them wanted their share, Shilpi brushed it off by saying Mollika was lying.

One day Mollika dreamt her brother came to her house, she asked him where he was, he said he had to go to the doctor because of stomach issues. Mollika asked him what he had told Shilpi about the life insurance  money, he smiled and said, “I told her to divide it between the siblings”.

Mollika was happy to know it, she thought at least they won’t call her a liar. She related her dream but the two sisters made fun of her and told the people involved that Mollika was a liar.

My interpretation of this dream is the brother visited Mollika to let her know she was telling the truth, and hoped evil Shilpi would be afraid and would do as she was told.
