The following are the attributes of this person: he is kind, helpful, brilliant and has written a few amazing books.

His books are used in school syllabus for students.

He is quiet and humble, to me these are  perfect qualities to be nominated, ‘Time’s Man Of The Year.’

Writing Prompt: Back To The Future

A new service is invented for me to send messages to people in the future. First I’d be so overwhelmed I wouldn’t know who deserves a message in the future from me.

After hours of pondering and nights of uneasy sleep, I’ve decided future messages can only be sent to those who are yet to step into this amazing world of ours.

Since I think I’ve gathered enough experience from the past and present, I have so to speak a lot more knowledge than the ones who will be coming.

The names of people hopefully will be the same, who is going to try to invent newer names. I like the existing names such as Henry,Jack,George, Neal and Philip. I’ll deal with one of these keeping in mind ,their minds are squeaky clean.

1.Henry is a name I’ll strike off the list because of Henry v111.

2. A person named Jack was not so good either.

3. George: there were too many dopes,so I cannot use it .

4. Neal: according to research I’ve done ; a person named Neal was a stupendous bad ass.

5. Philip: They say is a very stable and honest man.

I have chosen Philip out of five names I’ve researched,he is the one who is honest and stable man according to sources.

Since he is yet to be born and raised my message will be thus:

Dear Philip ,

This is a message for you. Please get rid of all the things that have caused pollution. Treat all your fellow humans equally. Give opportunities to do better to all humans. Wipe out hunger.Provide homes for everyone. I hope you will take this message as a serious one.

Good luck and God bless.

Take care,

From one who has experience of good, the bad,

and the ugly

Writing Prompt: Karma Chameleon

Reincarnation, the rebirth of a soul in a new body. When I was in my early teens,I watched  a Bengali movie, the title was “after Death. ” I was skeptical about it,I didn’t believe there could be such a thing as reincarnation. Recently I watched another movie in Hindi, this one was also about reincarnation. My belief was shaky,I felt maybe there is some truth in it.I chose a poem of Tagore  to translate, this one was also related to the same subject.

I am pretty much convinced this is something I could do research on and post it on my blog. I have gathered some information from Dr. Ian Stevenson’s life’s work. The best known collection of scientific data that appears to provide scientific proof that reincarnation is real, is the life’s work of Dr. Ian Stevenson. Stevenson did not rely on hypnosis,he chose to collect thousands of cases of children, who remembered their past life.

One of his cases was a child from India. Her name is Swarnlata. from the time she was three, she gave enough information,to enable Dr. Stevenson to locate the family of the deceased person she remembered. She gave more than fifty specific facts that were verified.

She was born to an intellectual and prosperous family in Pradesh in India in 1948.one day she was travelling with her father past the town of Katni  it was more than hundred miles from her home. She was only three years old,she suddenly asked the driver to turn down a road  she claimed where she said was,”my house.” She said they can get a better cup of tea there than they could on the road. Soon she began to tell more about her life in Katni. Her father carefully wrote them down. She said her name was Biya Pathak and that she had two sons. She gave a detailed description of the house. She said behind her house was a girl’s school. In front there was a railway line. Everything she said was amazingly accurate.

She said Biya died of a pain in her throat, she gave the name of the doctor who treated her. She also recalled an incident at a wedding when she and her friend had difficulty finding the washroom.

When Swarnlata was ten years old her case reached Professor H.N.Bannerjee. He was an Indian researcher and a colleague of Stevenson. To verify her memory Professor Bannerjee travelled to Katni. From Swarnlata’s description,he found the house.the house was changed a bit.He found out it belonged to the Pathak family.

He interviewed the family and verified everything Swarnlata had said. The Pathaks and the Mishars did not know each other. In 1959 Biya’s son, husband and eldest brother journeyed to Chhatarpur where Swarnlata lived. To test her they did not reveal their identity or purpose of their visit. However they took nine men to accompany them to the Mishar’s home.

Swarnlata instantly recognized her brother and called him “Babu.” Not much is known about the reaction of the parties,as Dr. Stevenson only gave  the bare facts.

Swarnlata identified her son,Murli, who tried to trick her,but was not successful. The ten year old went around the room looking at each man, some she knew from her past, others she said were strangers. She recognized Chintamini Pandey, husband of Biya. She reminded Mr. Pandey that he had stolen twelve hundred rupees from Biya’s box. Pandey admitted the truth, this was something only he and his wife knew.

Again to test her, she was taken to a room full strangers and asked whom she recognized. She correctly picked her husband’s cousin. Murli further tested her by introducing her to a man he claimed was his new friend Bhola. Swarnlata could not be deceived, she immediately knew it was actually Naresh, Biya’s second son.

In the years that followed,Swarnlata regularly visited the Pathaks. The pathak brothers and Swarnlata observed the Hindu custom of Rakhi,in which the brothers and sisters annually renew their devotion to each other. The Pathaks did not believe in reincarnation but changed their views of reincarnation and accepted Swarnlata as Biya reborn.

There are reports she grew up normally, received an advance degree in Botany and got married. Once she said she wished she could return to the life of Biya.

DP Daily Prompt: A Little Sneaky Post by Ranu

Writing prompts to me is an useful exercise and can be sneaky. Take for example, the one I did yesterday about the last song I heard.I had to pick the third line and make it my post. This required a lot of pondering on my part. I tested a few,the third line was not helping me to write anything.I did write something,I felt as if the topic was taking me where I did not want to go.

It was a question of ,’Should I skip it or attempt it?’ Then the thought why not I pick a song from a language I know and translate it. To my surprise what I came up with was amazing. I ended up writing about the dearest person in the world. Although I had to exercise my brain, mind whatever you call it, the result was heartening for me. I was able to write about my Dad.The satisfaction I got from it was tremendous.

The prompts can be a little sneaky as well. There are prompts where I wrote about myself,my likes, dislikes the whole bit. It seemed at times I was writing my autobiography unconsciously. This is the part I’d call sneaky.

To sum up I must say,I enjoy writing the prompts. If I had to think of what to write, I wouldn’t write one every day.The fact I get help is truly remarkable, sneaky or not.

DP Daily Prompt: Critical Eye Post by Ranu.

I am sorry this prompt does not give me any confidence.A Music Critic? This is just a joke I think.I did not study music.Yes I love music.Taking the role of a critic is not an easy subject.

I can say I love Celine Dionne’s voice, she sings her songs so beautifully.I love her song in the Titanic.

Madonna’s song ,”don’t cry for me Argentina is beautiful. It feels as though she really means every word in that song.To me she is very talented .She has what it takes to make one believe.

Julie Andrew’s song; The hills are alive with the sound of music  was remarkable.

Yesterday while going to the mall I heard someone singing a song .I asked my daughter who she was,it was Pink. Now she has talent, the way she can change her voice according to the lyrics is truly amazing.

I only picked the ones I like. The ones who have no talent and still are doing well,is amazing.I wonder why?

You can tell I have failed as a music critic. But it was fun writing about some of the talented ones.

There are hundreds of Indian singers who are blessed with remarkable voice and are also gifted lyricists. I am not sure if I name them people will recognize them. Just for fun I’ll name one.His name is Mohammed Rafi. He is not alive but he still is very popular. One song I have listened several times in the past few days begins thus:   Dil jo na keh saka wohi Raa-ze dil kehne ki raat ayee, from the Bollywood movie ‘Bheegi Raat’.

This is all I can say about my knowledge of Music.
