365 Writing Posts: Five Items

A classic question, revisited, what are the five items you must have on a deserted island?

Five items I consider most important to me are:

1. Food

2. Camera

3.Pencil

4. paper

5. blanket

Food: well any living thing needs food,I am no exception , my food is a bit more complicated than the plants and animals.

Animals will eat anything that moves, not true in our case.

Plants: I’m so thankful for them, they provide us shade in the form of trees, there are trees that produce fruits, vegetables. Without trees our land will turn into deserts.

Why will I need a camera, I think  there will be so many varieties of living things, I’d like to capture them in my little equipment.

I did not include pen, it has a shorter life than a  pencil, I opted to carry a pencil and of course paper to write on . I want to make my unwanted stay fascinating, good or bad it will help me write about my experience.

I wished  to include something else in my list of five items, but a voice in me said, “take a blanket, it will keep you warm, in case it’s freezing on the island!”

Above is a list of items I think I’ll need. I’ve given the reason why they’re more important than anything else.

Writing Prompt: Menagerie

Yes we have animals in our life. It means a lot to us. We have two kittens ,they are playful, they tell us when they are hungry. Sometimes when they do things,we do not approve, they look at us and it seems asking us, “yes we will get up on the mantel piece, what are you going to do about it.”

We have a great time with these innocent animals. I noticed they are still trying to figure me out, especially the Siamese kitten. the other one is quite used to me. He plays when he wants to, he likes his rest, he doesn’t want to move when it is his resting time.We love our kittens, the most important thing I see is, they love us unconditionally.

DP Daily Prompt: You’re a Winner

It’s difficult to believe I can ever win such a large amount of money tax free.  Since I’m an optimist most of the time, I’d think I really have hit the jackpot.  It will take a few months for me to draw up a plan, how I can spend this enormous sum of money.

I’d first donate locally, because it makes sense to help the people in my city who’d appreciate getting some money. I’d pay off their mortgage, build some shelters for the poor. Invest some of it to improve  roads.  Donate some to repair run down public buildings. When I think I’ve accomplished helping my local community. I’d think how I can help the world outside my community.

There are millions of people around the world who are homeless  hungry and uneducated. My winning can help them  change their lives. It’ll be my pleasure to use it for those unfortunate people.

I’d also use some of it for all those animals who are dying because of  lack of food and shelter.

DP Daily Prompt: Rolling Stone Post by Ranu

Nomad

Nomad (Photo credit: ElDave)

I remember the saying,” A Rolling Stone Gathers No Moss”. If I am given the opportunity to live a nomadic life.I’d certainly want to try.The best place I’d choose would be,keeping in the tune with  the song,’O give me home, where the buffaloes roam and the sky is not cloudy all day. A home on the range where the deer and the antelopes play.’

It is not difficult to decide.I have seen and lived in cities, while they have their charm, life is complex and full of stress. A nomadic life can help to look at my innermost self. I’d like to spend my time studying nature. It will provide the experience,Tagore had when he wrote those beautiful poems and songs. I feel blessed,I can read and understand him and appreciate his hard work that he left behind for us to enjoy.

When I leave for a life, which is carefree and rejuvenating,to me it will be heaven on earth. I am certain I will not miss my home base. I’d be busy talking to the variety of animals,I’d come in contact with. For once I’d get to see nature and learn to appreciate it. The absence of city life cannot and will not be an issue. I’ll think of Wordsworth and his poem,”I wandered lonely as a cloud . That floats on high o’er vales and hills, when all at once I saw a crowd,A host of golden daffodils.”

It will give me an occasion to feel Tagore’s poetry, “We play with the golden dawn,we play with the silver moon”. I ask , “But how am I to get up to you?” They answer,”Come to the edge of the earth lift up your hands to the sky, and you will be taken up into the clouds”. These are the moments I will treasure. I’d love to give nomadic life a try.
