What is Love?

When asked, what is love?

The author said: When love calls you, follow him,

Though his words are hard and steep.

And when his wings enfold you yield to him,

Though the sword hidden among his pinions may wound you.

And when he speaks to you believe in him,

Though his voice may shatter your dreams as the north wind lays waste the                                       garden.

When you love you should not say , ‘God is in my heart,’ but rather , ‘I am in the heart of God.’

DP Daily Prompt: Grand Slam

pad2014-s.png (308×60)

The World series starts tonight! In your own life what would be the equivalent of a walk–off home run?( For the baseball averse, that’s a last minute, back-against-the-wall play that guarantees a dramatic victory).

I scored that dramatic victory when at the last minute my name was drawn to win one of the posters that our guest author came to visit our school at the end of our five day workshop.

All the teachers that attended the workshop came from different parts of the United States, I was the only one representing  Gander, Newfoundland, Canada.

Our guest author came on the last day of the workshop, he was an artist as well.He drew a number of posters as he was telling the story of the latest book he had written.

The posters were placed in a box, our names were placed in another box, the idea was to pick a name from the box and give one poster to each one whose name was called.

The chances of getting one was not good for me, there were a lot more teachers than posters. Mr. and Mrs. Halloran wanted me to win one since I was the only one from Canada. Every time a name was picked Mr. Halloran jumped to see whose name came up. he looked at me and said, “there’s a few more you still have a chance.”

I think my name was the last one picked, Mr. and Mrs. Halloran were more thrilled than I was, it was a great day for me!

DP Daily Prompt: Standout Post by Ranu

I went to a workshop in Elmhurst,it is a place near Chicago. There were three hundred of us at that workshop. There were teachers from all over the United States. I was the only one from,Newfoundland,Canada. I wore a sari. This caught the attention of all those who attended the workshop.

We were asked to introduce ourselves When I stood up and said I was from Newfoundland,Canada, all eyes were focused on me.The workshop was run by a husband and wife team, the Hallorans. They were glad to have me in their midst. I was given all kinds of opportunity to speak. I loved the attention.

The workshop lasted for five days. In the end they had a guest speaker,he was  an author of several books for children. At the end of his speech,he was provided an easel with large papers where he started sketching amazing pictures. Our names were placed in a large box, he picked the names,as he completed his artwork. I knew the Hallorans wanted me to have one. I think there were thirty or thirty five pictures. The names were picked one at a time,I could see disappointment on the face of Mr. Halloran,my name wasn’t picked and there were only two left, suddenly my name was called.Mr Halloran was so happy he came up to me and said,’I am so glad you got one’!
