pad2015-s1.png (308×60)

What do you display on the walls of your home—-photos,posters,artwork, nothing? How do you choose what to display? What mood are you trying to create?

When we display anything on the walls of our house, we think of the room. Our living room walls are decorated with artwork, a part of the wall has pictures of birds, another part has animals, still another with flowers. We also try to hang pictures that goes well with the color of the paint on the walls. We try to create nature and how it adds to the beauty of the environment.

The dining room walls have pictures of fruits, vegetables and some gardens with trees hanging down with colorful fruits and vegetables.

The bedroom displays family pictures, there are portraits and single photographs showing different photos of children from the infant stage to the current.

The walls with the photos and pictures is to create happy memories of our family.

365 Writing Prompts: Name that…you

Do you know the meaning of your name, and why your parents chose it? Do you think it suits you ? What about your children’s names?

My name is “CHAMAN,” it means a garden. When I think of a garden it gives me a feeling of complete joy. There are flowers, birds, insects, trees and oh so many more things.

The environment of the garden is peaceful, joyous, children playing ‘hide and seek,’ Mom resting and watching her pride and joy having a wonderful time.

My parents chose my name  immediately after I was born, I guess they consulted their friends and thought the name they chose was appropriate for the way I looked as a baby.

Garden reminds me of happiness, having a good time, pretty and so on. I was a happy child, I loved playing with my siblings and friends. I am happy and I love playing, this  means the name suits me.

DP Daily Prompt: Rare Medium

pad2014-s.png (308×60)

Describe a typical day in your life– but do it in a form or in a medium you’ve rarely –if ever –used before. If you’re a photo blogger write a poem.If you’re a poet, write an open letter. If you’re a travel blogger, write a rant. (these are all examples —choose whatever form you feel like trying out!)

Day before yesterday was a fine day,the sun was shining the birds were chirping, the whole city came alive, the past several days it was cold, rainy, windy, it was as if Nature has decided to punish us for what we do to it on a daily basis.

However that day it was superb, I ventured to take my camera and capture this awesome day in my photographs. I’m not a photographer, I haven’t learned the technical aspects of photography, why this is so, is because I didn’t invest any time learning this craft. To me it is look through the camera lens and click, this is what I did, my performance was shabby, I am embarrassed to admit. The tree looked like a stump, the birds were not recognizable.

I tried again a second time, this time my concentration was on houses, let me tell you they looked hideous, I packed my bag and came home, my attempt to take pictures made me realize, I have to spend some quality time learning how to take awesome pictures.

Tagore song–kholo kholo daar post and translation by Ranu

Open the door

Do not make me stand

outdoors any more.

Speak ,look at me

Come with open arms to greet me.

Open the door

Do not make me stand

Outdoors any more.

The work is done

The evening stars are shining

The sun is set

The ferry is back

Open the door

Do not make me stand

Outdoors any more.

Did you bring

The stuff home?

Did you dress up,

Tie your hair

Pluck the flowers

String the garland?

The cattle is back

The birds are in

Their nest.

The roads

Surrounding the world

Are lost in the dark.

Open the door

Do not make me stand

outdoors any more!

Song by Dwijendralal Roy Post by Ranu

My motherland,

A place of  green fields,

full of fragrant flowers,

it is our earth.

Where can anyone find a place like it?

She is  the queen of all lands,

it  is my motherland.

Where can you see  beautiful

bright sun, moon and stars?

Delightful birds puts me to sleep with their song,

and wakes me up at daybreak.

Where can one find a

place like my motherland?

She is the queen of all lands.

Where one can find pleasing rivers,

rolling hills,the gentle wind that

stirs the grain fields as ripples of waves.

This is my motherland

she is the queen of all lands.

I want to live here forever.

This is where I was born

and I hope this is where I will take my last breath!

DP Daily Prompt: The Zone Post by Ranu

This is a song by Tagore.  It is my favorite song.  I listen to it frequently.  When I play this song , I really am in the zone.  I get lost and imagine it’s happening to me.

The following is the translation of the Bengali song in English:

My days in the gold cage,

are no longer visible –

my many colorful days.

The bond of laughter and tears

are broken

they could not tolerate my golden days.

I hoped they would learn,

the language of the songs in my heart

they disappeared

without saying it all,

my many colorful days.

I dream as if they are moving around

my broken cage wishing to see someone,

from my golden days.

Can all this pain  be deceit,

they are shadows of birds.

Nothing of mine is left in the sky,

my  many golden days.
