Day Seven: Make the most of Events
Today’s assignment: Create a recurring blogging event on your site, and/or make plans to attend a blogging conference.
Blogging Event: In Other Words
In this weekly event draw inspiration from a well-known quote.
Recurring weekly Wednesday-
Today is Tuesday, but I will write a post today on quotes and another one tomorrow to follow the recurring weekly Wednesday.
The famous quote I picked today is : Let us sacrifice our today so that our children can have a better tomorrow-
A.P.J Abdul Kalam
Sacrifice is the key word in this quote. Our children need our support mentally, physically and financially. This is the reason we should sacrifice our pleasure by earning and saving for our children to enable them to have a better tomorrow.
Besides financial, mental and physical support is necessary too. Little minds at times can be confused by viewing the world by themselves. We can help by explaining things they fail to understand.
They need physical support in infancy, parents’ assistance enables them to grow up as confident human beings.
Today’s assignment: Make sure your site is mobile friendly, and familiarize yourself with the features of responsive design.
Yes my site is mobile-friendly. I will familiarize myself with the features of responsive design. Thank you.
Today’s assignment: Audit your _ look all the ways you communicate information about your blog to make sure they’re focused and consistent.
I go with my tagline,” Savor kindness because cruelty is always possible later.”
I started blogging by translating the poems of Tagore, and also by translating a lot of his songs. My intention is always to entertain my readers. If I only embed his songs and fail to translate, it leaves the reader wondering, could she not translate it. It was to remove doubts that I’m a real Bengali, who lives and breathes the language, and also to find out for myself if I really can translate into English, Tagore’s Bengali lyrics.
As far as branding goes my blog is an assortment of everything. It has fiction and non-fiction, my likes and dislikes, recipes of foods the reader may enjoy reading or even try.
I hope my posts truly explains, whether I’m kind or the opposite.
Will it be appropriate if I write my blog’s branding as “A medley of different posts?”
Sorry for not posting it yesterday, I had issues with my internet connection, which could not be fixed. 😦
Please leave your comments, thanks.
Hello all the participants for Blogging 201. I am excited to meet all of you. I’m hoping to learn from you all. Thank you Krista for giving us this opportunity.
Welcome to Blogging 201: Branding and Growth!
Today’s assignment: Consider what you want to accomplish with your blog. Write down three concrete goals.
Here are some questions to mull over to help you uncover/refine what’s most important to you about your blog.
Why do you blog? For notoriety? To get a book contract? To self publish? To establish yourself as a leader in your field? To gain followers? To connect with others? To clarify your own thoughts?
My three goals are to a) gain followers b) to connect with others C) To clarify my own thoughts.
When I started blogging almost three years ago, my aim was to figure out what blogging is about. When I posted my first blog post I was excited to get some followers. The number increased slowly. I always look for feedback, but only a few write comments, the rest just click the like button. When I see them I wonder what’s on the mind of these bloggers, what do they like? why don’t they write a comment, even a short one gives me some idea about my post.
My second goal is to connect with others and learn from their post.
My third goal is to clarify my own thoughts. I want my readers to ask questions,it gives me a reason to think about my post, to enable me to write in simple words what exactly do I mean?
The above are my goals.
