DP Daily Prompt: Binding Judgment

Does it ever make sense to judge a book by its cover—literally or metaphorically? Tell us about a time you did, and whether that was a good decision or not.

As far back as I can remember, I did not pick up books to read by looking at its cover. I went for the title instead.

My early years in teaching I read books if the title was interesting, and recommended them to my nine year old students. There were a lot of books in our classroom shelf, my kids didn’t read they were just not interested.

One day I was looking for a book to read, I found a book the title was,”This Can’t Be Happening At Macdonald Hall.” It immediately caught my attention, I looked at the back of the book and found out it was written by a twelve year old for a class project. His teacher suggested he should publish his story, as advised he took it to the Scholastic publishing company, they were impressed by it and published it. His book was very popular and was read by thousands of students across Canada.

His other books were ,”I Want To Go Home,” this one was a best seller too.He has written many books after.

Another book I read was, “A Dog’s Journey”, then the next one was, “The Art Of Hearing Heartbeats”, I have read many books I have chosen for the title and not the cover.

I also read books by famous authors such as , ‘Paulo Coelho’, I read all his books I liked most of them, the one I did not like was,”Eleven Minutes”, Paulo wasn’t too sure how the book will be received but it did all right.

365 days Writing Prompt: RSVP

Plan the ultimate celebration for the person you’re closest to, and tell us about it. Where is it? Who’s there? What’s served? What happens?

On May 9th 2014 an awesome book was published, it took the author over two years to complete writing this book, his hard work paid off as this book earned him the fame, every writer dreams of.

He is a gifted writer, he is humble and has a very sweet disposition. I came to know him accidentally while spending time to do some research on the great Philosopher and poet Iqbal. From him I found out he was offering  an online course on Iqbal, my prayers were answered I immediately registered for the course,or he kindly registered me and even paid for the registration. I was impressed who would do this for a complete unknown, it showed how generous he was.

Since then I registered for all the courses he offered. After a few courses I realized how awesome he was. His latest book gave me reason to celebrate his most recent accomplishment.

My plan is to organize the celebration, where he lives now. I intend to invite all those people who have encouraged him to write this book.

I’d get a catering service to serve the kinds of food he likes. He once mentioned he missed biriyani, he hasn’t eaten it since he left home. This particular dish is served with yoghurt salad and some Seekh kebabs, I’m almost sure he’d like it.

Dessert will be light, after a heavy dinner a light dessert will be served to all the invited guests.

After dinner, two guests who know the author will be invited to say a few words about him.

Before leaving the author would be requested to sign the copies of his book bought by some of his fans!

DP Daily Prompt: Worldly Encounters

pad2014-s.png (308×60)

The friendly, English-speaking extraterrestrial you run into outside your house is asking you to recommend one book, movie, or song, that explains what humans are all about. What do you pick?

I am not really sure I can recommend a book,a movie or a song that explains what humans are all about.

I cannot think of a book I read a movie I watched or a song I heard explains what humans are all about.

However if I’m allowed I can sum up my thoughts and explain to the extraterrestrial outside that humans were created out of a handful of clay, they were given the required health, happiness and intelligence to make the world a better place to live. God overlooked the point that Satan who was made of fire was subjected to bow before Adam, while all the other angels obeyed God, Satan refused,as a result he was thrown out of paradise. This did not bode well with Satan who promised to make life difficult for humans.

Now we have good and bad people, ones who are trying to do good to humanity and others who are doing the exact opposite.

Good and evil are living side by side. When something good happens to our planet,Satan takes over and makes sure everything good is undone by his followers.

I have collected this information from books, movies and songs I have heard. I had to give my support to all three mediums to know and explain all about humans.

Writing Prompt: Judgement Day

If you were to judge your favourite book by its cover, would you still read it?

First of all I pick up books by their title not cover. Most of the time I don’t pay attention to the cover of a book. I read the title and if I’m impressed I read it, not once but several times.

If I were to judge my favourite book by its cover, I’d definitely read it. To me cover is not important.

Writing Prompt: Bedtime Stories

My favorite story book was Cinderella and her two horrible step sisters and her step mother. I always wondered how anyone can be so mean.

It was a fairy tale I knew but in real life these things happen too, when the father remarries and ignores the first wife’s kid.

There were things in the story that taught me to be fair to everyone, never to treat someone poorly, to be kind and unselfish.

The right stories do teach   children early in life why it’s a bad idea to be mean.
