In response to daily post’s one word prompt : Final
Mutua Madrid Tennis Championship Final
Rafael Nadal and Dominic Thiem are in the Final of the Mutua Madrid Tennis Championship. Today is the day of the final match.
Nadal is a Spaniard and Thiem is an Austrian. Both have won all the matches leading to the final. Thiem is a young Austrian who comes dressed as a warrior who believes he can beat the Spaniard. Nadal will have the whole country behind him, because it is Spanish championship. Thiem will only have his family and his team rooting for him.
It depends on whose nerve is solid, however, Nadal has the experience and the nerve to win it . Thiem can only rely on his luck.
I hope the match is competitive, and not one sided, it will give the spectators their money’s worth, for I’m sure they’ve spent a huge amount.
I on the other hand will watch it on TV in my room. I’d be happy if Thiem wins but it seems to be a long shot!
In your own life, what would be the equivalent of a walk-off-home-run?( For the baseball-averse, that’s a last minute, back-against-the wall play that guarantees a dramatic victory.)
I love watching some competitive sports such as tennis and figure skating, these are my favorite I can spend a long time watching them.
Past two weeks there was a grand slam tennis championship for men and women held in Wimbledon, England. I have a habit of picking my favorite players and I root for them. Otherwise I don’t enjoy watching the match.
My female favorite player was a twenty-one year old from Spain. I was thrilled when she reached the final. Unfortunately she had to play against Serena Williams in the final. The outcome was Serena won and Garbine Muguruza the Spanish player lost. Which meant my player lost I was disappointed and thought next time she will do better.
The men’s finalists were Roger Federer from Switzerland and Novak Djokovic from Serbia. My favorite was Roger,I was sure he’d win but he made some crucial unforced errors at the wrong time and lost the match in four sets.
This was my experience of watching a grand slam tennis championship.
Are you a sports fan? Tell us about fandom. If you’re not, tell us why not.
I like specific sports like tennis, ice hockey, baseball. I don’t spend time watching any other sports besides the one I mentioned.
I watch ice hockey when my favorite team the Boston Bruins are playing, it’s too bad they were unable to participate in the Stanley cup finals, I still like them.
I watch baseball when my favorite team the “Blue Jays” are playing, sometimes I watch the world series not regularly.
I love watching tennis, recently in “Wimbledon final” my favorite player Roger Federer was unable to win the trophy but he played well, Joker was lucky Roger made mistakes he usually doesn’t.
I watched the women’s final Our favorite Eugenie Bouchard lost to Petra Kvitova, Petra was unbelievable, once again my favorite came home with a runner up trophy. It’s okay I’m hoping my two favorite players will bring home the championship trophy in the US open grand slam tennis championship in September this year!
