In response to daily post’s one-word prompt : Gray
Grumpy Tom
He looked at the thick Gray clouds and muttered, ‘it’s going to be another rainy day honey.’
Julia didn’t mind rain, after such a hot spell, rain was a welcome sign. She ignored hubby’s words and got busy with her work. Their kids came home soaking wet, once again Tom complained, ‘why do we have rain so frequently, look at the kids all wet and have ruined the rug, can we not do something about it? He groaned.
He sounded so funny, Julia burst out laughing, she replied, ‘I can’t stop the rain so quit complaining.’
Sometimes we humans do not realize, we have no hold over Nature, it will do whatever it wants, and our kicking and screaming will not solve anything. What we must do is enjoy whatever it throws upon us, we must grin and bear it, for we have no choice.
I hope Tom learns to enjoy the work of Nature and quits getting annoyed with everyone in the house!
Today’s assignment: publish a post you’d like your ideal audience member to read, and include a new-to-you element in it.
Today I have chosen Rabindranath Tagore my favorite poet to write about. Tagore’s poems and song lyrics portrays everything from nature, to human misery, to happiness, he has covered it all.
I will write his poems and song lyrics which is all about nature. I am positive, he felt the same as William Wordsworth who wrote and I quote here: The world is too much with us ; late and soon, getting and spending , we lay waste our powers: Little we see in Nature that is ours; we have given our hearts away, a sordid boon.
Tagore loved Nature which is why he hated to study in an enclosed building. Humans should have the freedom to enjoy nature. With this in mind, he built the school named, Shanti Niketon(house of peace) here students studied outdoors, they had the freedom to move around.
Tagore loved children, he wrote song lyrics and poems with children on his mind. One reason could be he lost his mother when he was very young, this probably encouraged him to write poems about the interaction of a child with his/her mother.
I have known Tagore’s poems from a very early age, partly because the poet and I speak the same language i.e. Bengali ,I lived in Bengal, my parents were Bengalis. I am very fond of poetry and Music, Tagore’s work provided all of that.
Today I have embedded  a children’s song , the lyrics are written by Tagore. The subject is “Freedom”.
This is my translation:
Let us have freedom,do not hold us back
just like the birds in the woods that  fly around happily
Like the heavy rain, that falls without resistance
Like the  bondless  clouds and wind that move around in the skies
Like the dance of the firewood that encircles everything
Like the thunder that roars from the cloud
Like the roar of uncontrolled laughter where there is no barrier.
Let us have freedom, do not hold us back!
This is my day four assignment. I have tried to attract those adults who are children at heart as I am.
When the full moon happens, you turn into  a person who’s the opposite of who you normally are. Describe the new you.
I’m always a happy person by nature. A full moon to me means a joyous occasion, everything is bright, the dark night changes into a very bright sky, the earth, the people are all happy.
To be opposite of me would be to be an unhappy me  instead of enjoying the bright moon I’m sad, I’m cranky,I dislike everything around me . I sit and sulk, I stop smiling, I want everyone to leave me alone and I write poems that makes humanity cringe.
I’d rather write a poem that makes all of nature happy, like:
Nigerian farmers working in field in Middle Belt (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
The word I found is ‘Nature’.I did a Google image  search of the word. This is what the image is. I am looking at it.On the ground is a large piece of land. The place is quiet, there is no movement on the field.I am imagining it to be a farmland, the farmers have left after planting the crops. The division of the field into rows gives the impression.
In the background there are many large trees, in between there is a path, perhaps it is where the houses of the farmers are located. Up above there are clouds moving in warning everyone the rain is about to fall, the farmers should take cover.
It must be a welcome sight for the people, the fields are dry, water is needed to enliven the field.
Soon nature will make everything green and lively, the plants will grow, the farmers will flock to the fields to harvest the crops. They will collect their produce and keep some for themselves and sell the rest.
Then they all will have ‘Thanksgiving’ dinner . They will sit around and make plans for next year’s crop.
