You’ve inherited $5 million, With instructions you must give it away— but you can choose any organizations you like to be the beneficiaries. Where does the money go?
My inherited five million dollars must be given away to any organization I like, makes me wonder why me of all people is entrusted to do this. This is a great way of keeping the person honest, if that little clause was not put in the will I’d probably not think of charity. I know of an incidence where the dying brother wanted something like this done with the insurance money,it was only something he told her, there was no legal document,so the sister ignored his wish and kept it for herself.
This instruction clearly avoids something like I have written above. Now I must carry on with which organization I’d like to donate the money to.
There are countless organizations all over the world, I have no idea how they operate and is it safe to give all that money to them. How can I be certain they will give the money to communities that need the most.
This is what I plan to do, since charity begins at home I will donate the money to organizations in my community. I will be able to know what they are doing with the money, whether the have-not’s in my community are getting the benefit or is it used by the bosses of the organizations.
What does your ideal community look like? How is it organized, and how is community life structure? What values does the community share?
I do have an ideal community in my mind whether it will ever come true I cannot tell. Before I go any further,I’d like to say why I long for an ideal community.
The communities I have seen are very depressing,on the one hand you see traffic jams, all kinds of vehicles on the road, there are the public buses overcrowded with people, There are some seats, the rest of the aisle is full of people standing to get to their destination. Then there one or two passengers or owners of cars moving along with the heavy traffic, these people have nothing to worry, their vehicle is cool because the car is equipped with air condition. They are fortunate they’re dropped off right in front of their destination, they only walk a few steps to go in.
My ideal community will have public transportation but it will not be crowded, the fare will be affordable, so that everyone can use it.
There will be educational institutions where besides education, citizens will be taught to respect each other .
There will be affordable housing for anyone who needs it.
I want everyone to be happy. No one should be homeless or hungry.
I want to see a community where everyone helps each other.
My community should be well organized,if there are natural disasters help should be instant for those who are in trouble.

Salim was a bright young man,he loved to study,he helped his classmates with their homework, whenever anyone needed help in anything Salim would volunteer.
His parents loved hearing everyone in the neighborhood praise their son so much, Salim did his job thinking it was his duty , he wasn’t interested in getting any remuneration.
He became quite famous by his good deeds, parents of girls in the community were interested to have him as their son-in-law, Salim was not interested to get married, he felt he had plenty of time to tie the knot,he gave little importance to marriage.
Salim’s parents were eager to get him married, they were anxious to have a grand kid, the parents without Salim’s permission selected a bride for him, according to them she was very pretty, educated and comes from a wealthy family, what more could anyone want, Salim gave in and was married within a month.
Salim’s wife’s personality was completely opposite to his,she was rude, uncooperative, she argued with him day in and day out,his friends and relatives felt terrible, they said among themselves, that a man like Salim should have been lucky, how could he have such a horrible wife?
I was interested to be a part of the blogging community when I read my friend’s blog. I was not sure how . I accepted the challenge. Here I am enjoying it thoroughly.
Signing up with ‘Daily Post’ was my best move.I don’t have to think.Every morning I get the topic, I try to write the best way I can. I did not plan anything, I left that part to my mind.So far I am doing great.
I got ideas from my course buddies, one of them in particular. It was helpful to know what would interest them. Tagore is popular,I’ve translated a lot of his poems. When I started I didn’t think I could do it. Knowing the language certainly was a plus point. Here I am translating and writing the daily post. Did I think it’d go this way ,of course not?
I also wrote sort of a travelogue, where I was the guide and my clients was a family of three. I used some of my teaching experience to write that one.Right now I depend on the daily post.I might get some more input from my on-line course friends. This is what I am counting on.
I’ll probably write something for my friends who are interested.
When I look back at my teaching days, the memories of the children I taught, makes me realize, how special they were. I was one of a kind teacher there, completely different from any they had seen or heard in the nine years of their life. Sometimes they didn’t know how to interact with me. I did not take coffee breaks or any other breaks.I was always present. Some even were bold enough to ask,”Mrs. Asgar, don’t you want to get some coffee”? In reply, “I would say,why so you can fool around”? It was an open and shut case. In my first year they found out,I was scared of walking on the ice,one child volunteered to meet me,so he could help me.We did not have any discussion about it,he came on his own and very faithfully did his job.I think this is what he thought.I don’t remember if I ever thanked him. I hope I did.
The school year was over in June and kids would bring me gifts and look at my expression, they wanted to know if I liked their gifts.I of course thanked them individually. One year, it was the last day of the school year,I was busy putting away books and cleaning up my messy desk. I suddenly noticed Bobby coming in to say something. I looked up and asked did he forget something, he said, “Mrs. Asgar, you don’t like me do you”? I was stunned to hear this,I asked him what made him say this,it’s not true. He said,” you promoted me to grade five”. I told him there was no reason for me to fail him,he was one of the best students in my class. Even if he failed he would have a different teacher. This knowledge no matter how things turned out,I wouldn’t be his teacher the following year made him happy.
One year I had a new student in my class, the parents moved from a nearby community. He was put in my class. He was a quiet well-disciplined child, I did not have any occasion to take him aside and talk to him. Things were going well. Then came the time for the kids to order books from the Scholastics Book Company. The children would check the books they wanted with the money, I made a list and gave it to the secretary. On one such occasion the new kid did not have the exact change. I was about to give him the change,he looked at me and smiled, he said,”Mrs. Asgar you can keep the change”. I was surprised ,I did not want to hurt his feeling I replied’,it’s all right, give it to your Mom’. To this day I wonder how he felt Then there were some who would come to me at the end of the school year and apologize for their bad behaviour during the school year. Although they were not the problem. The ones who needed to apologize did not.
These are some of the memories which reminds me how lucky I was !
