Daily Prompt : Constant

In response to WordPress prompt :  Constant

Her constant repetition of the word drove me crazy,

I’m not sure this  weird way of learning to spell is easy.

My student’s  mom spent an hour to teach him spelling,

After five days of nonstop spelling didn’t help his learning.

Frustrated she decided to give me a call to know the trick,

I said, ‘ your continual repetition will only make him sick!’

Daily Prompt : Honk

In response to one – word prompt : Honk

Some of the car drivers driving make me uneasy,

I wish I can honk them when they drive crazy.

Some drive like they’re the only ones on the road,

Changing lanes in and out is their mode.

If you blow your horn they give you a nasty look,

Making you feel you’re the one with a wrong outlook!

Five sentence fiction: Changes

Lillie McFerrin Writes

A unique person 🙂

I’ve met countless people in my life, never had the pleasure of meeting someone like Alice, one moment she’d laugh like a lunatic, you turn around and find her crying, I never quite know what to think of her.

One day she showed interest in Mike, poor Mike is simple there is nothing complicated in his life, he prefers to have things as they are, I knew Mike  since he was a toddler, I didn’t think Alice was his type, when she asked me about him I just said, “Mike is just Mike there are no frills in his thought or action.”

Alice insisted I introduce them,I tried to get out of it but she was relentless, reluctantly I introduced them, they liked each other, they were out for coffee, movies , I saw them everywhere, I wondered how was this possible, Alice was with Mike for the seventh day, I was happy one of them liked to alter, s/h life.

It was Monday morning I noticed Mike was alone, I was curious I asked him about Alice, Mike’s face was red he murmured something then he looked at me ready to pounce, “It’s your fault” he said, you shouldn’t have introduced me to that eccentric.”

I gave him a look of dismay, he ignored my look and said, “Did you know she is crazy?’

365 Writing Prompts: Perspective

Think about something that drives you crazy. Now, think about something that makes you happy. Does it change your perspective on the former?

Albert Einstein said, “You cannot solve a problem with the same mind that created it.”

I know Albert Einstein wanted us to change how we felt when we had the problem. My question is what if the problem still exists and I’m the only one who is prepared to change, What then, how can it be solved?

To understand ourselves, others, the world around me, I can change,  what about the others if they are stubborn and hold on to the grudge, how is my change going to help the situation?

There are things that make me happy e.g, kind friends who are ever ready to help in any circumstance.

It is completely different from the former, in the former I have someone who is always ready to stab me in the back regardless of how much energy I expend to smooth out things. It is clearly a very different scenario, it does not give me any hope that changing my perspective will  make me happy!

365 Writing Prompts: Party animals?

After spending time with a group of people, do you feel energized and ready for anything or do you want to hide in the corner with a good book?

The parties I’m invited to attend are not crazy or noisy, they are meant to be a get together of friends and family. Main attraction is food, the hostess displays her culinary skills and wants her guests to appreciate the time she spent cooking in preparation of the grand event.

The guests come dressed in their latest Sari and jewelry, some of us admire, others do more, they actually inquire where they bought the awesome dress. Men wear suits, which doesn’t attract any conversation.

Meal is usually served to the children and the male guests first, the female guests are lucky to be served after 10 pm. If you are wondering why that is so, I can only say it is the custom.

The food is always delicious, chicken, beef, and fish is on the menu, rice is the primary food, bread is served very seldom. There are salads and other vegetable dishes served also.

After the meal dessert is served with tea or coffee.

Mothers of younger kids leave before, others wait another few minutes and make their exit.

This is the kind of party we have. I don’t feel any pressure to go home and hide in the corner with a book!

FURRY:

Furry is my middle name

Running around like crazy

Is my most favorite game

I hop here and I hop there

But I cannot go anywhere!

She says she’ll get me some company

Until that time comes I’ll be crazy

Living with humans is not a joke

They make me drink this horrid coke

Can anyone take me to a place

Where there is no human trace!

Then again I must agree

These are the best people

Who are taking care of me

They feed me and love me

They’ll do anything for me!

It was nice talking to you

Great folks, I’ll be back later

To tell you about my life

Until then stay contented

With yourself and your sweet Wife!

Writing Prompt: Ode to a Playground https://sabethville.wordpress.com/2014/01/28/365-days-jan28-ode to a playground/

This playground was in Rawalpindi, where I lived when I was a child.

I’ve enjoyed running around,

Oh my favorite playground.

You brought me joy

Whenever I screamed ahoy!

Kids would look at me and  wonder,

Is she out of her mind and shudder!

Oh my dears I’d say I’m not crazy,

But won’t you agree it sometimes looks hazy!!

I am a lost traveler

visiting you.

I am evening’s jasmine dear

and morning’s Arabian jasmine

do you know me?

I know you young traveler

your colorful clothing flies in the forests.

In the month of phalgun,

you are an impatient fire,

In the night of the month of chaitra,

you are aloof.

We are floating towards you

Who is calling this homeless

crazy person,

in a humming tune,

when I roam around in the forest?

I the mango bud called you.

I dreamed of you before I saw you,

I loved you without knowing you.

When the day is done,

and I am finished playing in the heated sand,

ready to go on the road,

who will take the fallen flowers in the chariot?

I the creeper will take it.

When the dry leaves scatter,

at the sound of music,

who will be left?

I will  stay and be sad,

O the indifferent traveler,

the beautiful spring ,

will erase the pain of separation.

I the crazy traveler will laugh.

I am a lost traveler,

visiting you.

Ack deen Raatey Aami shopno dekhinu,One night I had A Dream by Tagore translation by Ranu

One night I had a dream

‘Look’  ‘look’ Binu was saying.

I look out and what do I see a mutual beating of the batten and the beams,

Kolikata is shaking and moving about.

The huge brick houses are moving straight,

the doors and windows are noisy and looking great.

The road is slithering like a huge serpent,

on its back the tram and the vehicles are advancing boom boom.

The shops and the bazaar go up and down,

The roofs are knocking each other dead.

Howrah bridge the massive scorpion is moving with its might,

Harrison road is going close  behind it.

The monument looks like a crazy elephant’s trunk

waving its snout in the empty sky.

Our school is speeding in a hurry,

the math book runs so does grammar.

The maps on the walls are getting restless and fidgety,

Birds seem to flap their wings with authority.

The bell keeps swinging, ding dong ding dong___

thousands of people say wait,wait,wait,

where will we go from where, this is truly crazy!

Kolikata is not listening it’s in a frenzy,

her intoxication of dancing is visible on pillars and walls.

I think ,there is nothing to worry,

let Kolikata go straight to Mumbai.

Dilli can go to Lahore, and Agra too__

I will wear a Pugree on my head and Nagra on my feet.

But if it goes off today to London instead

the Brits will be visible in boots, jackets and hats.

When I woke up suddenly by some noise,

I see Kolikata hasn’t gone anywhere  boys.
