365 days Writing Prompts:Childlike

Explain your biggest regret__ as though to a small child.

I have spoken to children as part of my job, they were curious ready to learn, which made my job easier. There was a boy named Mark in my class, he was a very talkative child once I told him to go back to his seat, in reply he said, “Why?”

I said:  “because I’m telling you to do so.”

Mark was in a playful mood that day, he repeated again: “why?”

It seemed he wanted to linger on to see what my next move would be, this time I said, “I’m your teacher, you must listen to me.”

Not willing to give up, he said: “but you’re not my boss, are you?”

I smiled and told him: ”  in this classroom I’m your teacher and your boss.”

He smiled back and replied: “okay I believe you, now I’ll go back to my seat.”

I did not have any regrets but I was curious to know what else he’d come up with, it was a friendly dialogue which the rest of the kids also enjoyed.

365 days Writing Prompt: Book worm

Tell us about the last book you read (why did you choose it?Would you recommend it?) To go further write a post about its subject matter.

Last book I read was,     “A Dog’s Journey”, The title of the book made me curious, at the bottom of the title the words “Another Novel For Humans”, seemed interesting to me.

Buddy was the name of the dog, he belonged to a boy named Ethan, when Ethan died Buddy felt his purpose in life was done. After living through several lives ,Buddy knew he has lived his life well by taking care of people who needed him. Having fulfilled his purpose in life he was ready to go to meet Ethan in the life after.

When he watched a curious baby Clarity getting into mischief too dangerous for her , he was sure this baby needs to have a dog of her own.

Buddy was reborn , he was delighted when Clarity adopted him, she had grown into a lovely teenager. As Clarity goes through adolescence ,Buddy was there to protect her and love her unconditionally.

In the end Buddy’s favorite girl dies of kidney failure, he was happy he was able to bring joy in her life by being there for her.

Buddy felt he did his job and didn’t need to be reborn anymore.

Palmistry,I’ve heard a lot about Cheiro’s palmistry, and how accurately he could read anyone’s palm. I was flying from London,England to Dhaka,Bangladesh I don’t know why on earth I was thinking of palmistry. Suddenly a big burly woman sat on the empty seat beside me. After exchanging some pleasantries, she introduced herself as a palm reader. It didn’t awaken my curious mind, rather I stay away from people who try to tell me what’s in store for me in the coming days, months or years. I am happy to take each day as it comes, not what I can look forward to.

The woman wanted to read my hand,I tried to excuse myself. She insisted I should,I tried to shun her off politely. It seemed she was bent on showing me her craft. I gave in and let her read my palm.Well, what she came up with stunned me. I would marry a physician,he lives in North America. She kept talking, I tuned her off. I thanked her. I turned around and tried to take a nap. Her shrill voice, her demeanor,  constantly interrupted my thoughts. I was relieved when the flight attendant called her. I was glad to see her leave!

DP Daily Prompt: Great or Greatest Post by Ranu

A blog is not always great to attract followers. There are times I read blogs that are popular, not because they are exceptional, but the followers are friends, they are curious and promote them in large numbers.I read blogs that are good, but there are not many followers. Also if one pays to get followers then numbers increase. This is what I read in WordPress. It is not a fair way.Who cares about fair? I like blogs which helps me to increase my knowledge.I also read blogs of my friends.

I like Steve’s blogs,he posts photographs he has taken from all over the world. There are great messages from poets and well-known people.

Some bloggers put in a lot of time to make their blogs enjoyable to see and read. These are the kind I like. I think this is how I join and follow certain blogs.

DP Daily Prompt: Four Stars Post By Ranu

I grew up in a large family. My father was an assistant secretary in the ministry of defense,my mom was a housewife.I was a very curious child. My Dad or Mom or my siblings, always had to explain in detail, my why questions. My eldest brother was amused by my constant questions.More than once he reminded me that, “curiosity killed a cat”.It did not make any difference. I did not change.

I don’t know how old I was when I started going to school. I probably did okay in school. My Dad did not hire a tutor for me. He did hire one for my older siblings. I had to get up early to catch the school bus.It came to our gate at 6 a.m. My teachers gave me a lot of homework. One day I was unable to complete it. I did not know what the punishment will be,so I stayed home. That morning the bus driver kept on honking,I knew Dad will ask,’Ma Ranu ‘, aren’t you going to school?’I quickly said,”Dad I am cold”. My sister yelled,’it is not a reason to skip school’. I thought Dad doesn’t mind, who cares what Khuku thinks.

Dhaka (Photo credit: eGuide Travel) I had to think of an excuse fast. So I said, ‘Abba I am cold’. My big sister would yell out and say, ‘That’s no reason to skip school’. I did not reply. I thought as long as Dad has no problem with it,why should I care what Khuku thinks.

My Dad died suddenly,we had to move to our original homeland,Bangladesh. We were not thrilled with the move and no one cared what we thought. I finished school and took admission in a local college. I attended it for two years. I told my big Sister I want to study in Holy Cross College in Dhaka. Arrangements were made and I was there another two years and completed my Under  Grad. degree.

My next move was to get admission to do masters degree.I wanted to study Economics,my sister thought I was not hardworking enough to pass the course. I took admission to study history. I did well and took admission for B.ed. course. After completing the course,I taught for three years. I then applied for a scholarship, fortunately I was successful. I studied in London,England for a year.

I got married and came to Canada.I am a Canadian citizen.I live in St. John’s, Newfoundland,Canada. Here ends my boring story.
