#Everyday Inspiration, Day Fourteen: Recreate a Single Day

Day Fourteen: Recreate a Single Day

I woke up at 7Am. Prepared for Wudu(ablution) washed my face, hands, arms, head, and feet. These are the things we have to do to prepare us to pray.

It took about twenty-five minutes to pray. It’s the first prayer of the day. It’s called Fajr (arabic).

After completing my prayer I dressed up to do my morning exercise. It took me about twelve minutes.

Yesterday I was unable to complete day thirteen prompt. I finished writing a few minutes ago.

I spent almost two hours to complete it. I have published it. It’s 9:36 AM, I will go to the kitchen to have my breakfast.

I finished eating breakfast. I managed to prepare, eat and wash the dishes in thirty-five minutes.

Now I’m free to continue with , Day Fourteen prompt, ‘Recreate a Single Day.’

So far I’ve Satisfied my hunger. Now it’s time to keep writing day fourteen prompt. I find it amazing how we become conscious of using our time wisely. Every second, minute, hours counts in Life’s Clock.

The Life’s Clock is before me. ‘The clock of life is wound but once, no man has the power. To tell just where the hands will stop, At late or early hour. The present only is our own, live, love, toil with a will-Place no faith in “tomorrow”-for the clock may then be still.’

Wonderful words, the name of the author is unknown.

My back refuses to co-operate with me, it’s literally telling me to stop, or else it’ll be a painful day.

Thank you, y’all readers for putting up with my jargon

Day Fourteen; Recreate a Single day

How I Spent Two Hours Of This Morning

I opened my eyes when the clock struck six,

I didn’t  know what kind of breakfast I’ll fix.

There was the usual butter toast and tea,

Isn’t there something else waiting for me?

I had breakfast  and opened the computer,

Waiting for me was the day’s writing, oh dear.

What can I write was my question,

Write about the little girl I made my decision.

The doorbell rang I hastened to the door,

Waiting with a package was the mailman I adore.

Thank you so much I said, Mr. Mailman,

You’re right on time my favourite mailman.

Thus ended the two hours I gave myself,

I’m so glad now I can put my books on the shelf!

Everyday Inspiration, Day Fourteen: Recreate a Day

Day Fourteen: Recreate a Single Day or An hour and a half

It is 9:30 am, Angelique Kerber and Jelena Ostapenko stepped on Center Court, to play semi-final tennis match this day July 12th, 2018.It is a grand slam tennis match at Wimbledon, UK.

The tennis stadium was  full of   fans of both players. The umpire sat on a  high chair  and was calling the match.

There is a coin toss to decide who will start the first set. Umpire calls to start the match. The player who chose the right side begins playing. Each player seems anxious, it’s always the case, it’s an important match whoever wins the match will play for the title.

I watched the match on my TV. Although it’s a semi-final match, only one player  played well. The other player made too many mistakes. It was not competitive at all. Angelique Kerber won easily against Jelena Ostapenko.

Angelique Kerber will play against the winner of the second semi-final, for the Wimbledon title.

It took one hour thirty minutes for Angelique to win the match.

Day Fourteen : Recreate a Single Day

Yesterday I woke up at 4 in the morning, I get up early,  because I’m required to offer, the morning prayer before sunrise. I went back to bed after an hour, and woke up the second time at 6 in the morning.

I was still having a dull toothache and wasn’t sure what I could eat to avoid the pain from getting worse. Incidentally I had the tooth ache since last Saturday, because of the week-end and holiday on Monday, I was lucky to get an appointment with a Dentist on Tuesday .

Going back to recreate my single day and the food I was about to take,I poured a mug of milk and warmed it up in the microwave oven. I felt like eating some solid food, it had to be soft, because my dentist told me to chew on one side of my mouth, which is the right side, the left side went through an hour of trauma, it needed two fillings.

I grabbed a slice of bread, tore it into bite size pieces and mixed it with  warm milk, I simply put the pieces directly in the mug. Then began my ordeal of eating  bread and the milk, it wasn’t a pleasant experience, this was the best way to put something in my stomach.

I tried to do my assignments but my brain did not cooperate, how could it, it’s been deprived of food all day. I didn’t like to push my luck, so I watched some tennis matches, although I lowered the volume, I heard some fuzzy sounds in my head.

I lay down and dozed off, when I woke up the tennis match was almost over.It was time for lunch, the very word food made me nervous, I knew I’d be taxing  left side of my mouth if I tried to eat solid food.I was trying to think what could I safely eat to prevent pain then recalled  my daughter bought some pudding, there were  two kinds, Tapioca and Chocolate. I tried the first one, it was all right, there was no need to chew, the pain still warning me not to indulge in too much food.  My head was giving me a very different message, ‘eat something or you’ll faint.’

This tug of war between food and pain continued until my daughter returned, I complained about pain, she reminded me to take two Advil, well I must admit it’s a miraculous pain killer, I swallowed two and in fifteen minutes the pain was gone. By the way this is not a jingle for Advil, this is how things went during this long painful day.

I forgot to mention I had an appointment with a gentleman who came to my house to discuss certain things, it was done in an hour,  he left and I tried to do the assignment again, but failed.

It was a rough day, I could accomplish hardly anything. In the assignment yesterday I had the option of writing a fifty word or a hundred word story or a Haiku. I picked Haiku, three lines 5-7-5 syllables it’s doable I thought, which is what my mind permitted me  to do.

For supper I was craving for some spicy food with rice which was in my fridge, I warmed it up mashed it and ate, it felt so good.

In the evening I watched my favorite show Jeopardy for half hour, got ready for bed, that’s about it for, ‘my recreate a single  day,’ for today.

Writing 101, Day fourteen: Recreate a single day

How will you use twenty-four hours as your story’s canvas?

Start in the middle of the action, then zigzag through time, from the moment you woke up to the last thing that happened before you retired for the night.

Structure your story as a play-by-play( or hour by hour) account, complete with precise  time markers.

Zoom in even further, limiting yourself to just one hour of your chosen day.

Ignore these instructions and reveal one day’s significance indirectly, through focusing on its aftermath.

Assignment : Recreating a single day

November eighteenth Wednesday,Writing 101, Day 13: Play with word count

The day was yesterday, our assignment was to try to write a 50-word story or a 100-word story. I read a few samples of 100-word story and felt it was doable .

What could I write in hundred words was the question I asked myself. I read a true story of a mother about her son.

Did I have a true story to tell in just hundred words?

Instantly my father’s face popped up in my mind, I started writing, when I completed it, the trauma of that day’s event refreshed my mind. I thought of my siblings, my mother, how devastated we were that day.

I tried to brush it off and thought the only way was to go to the bus stop and take route 2 to go to the mall. After twenty -five minutes there was a sign of route number two heading my way. I was anxious to get on the bus, it was cold, windy and I was uncomfortable; in my haste to get out of the house; I chose the wrong jacket, it had no hood, I wore a cap and put on a scarf, which I did not wear properly to avoid the wind hitting my face and neck.

I had a few errands to run, it took less than fifteen minutes. I was not in a mood to spend anymore time in the mall, I took the bus and came home.

At home the memory of my father disturbed me. I tried to watch TV, realized soon enough, this piece of equipment occupying space in my room was not worth a dime. It was unable to make me happy. The weatherman was predicting snow, high winds and treacherous road conditions. I was safe in the house but my mind was preoccupied with the thought of my father and the rest of the family.

I remember waking up at 5 AM, finished my prayer, and was happy I’d have a lot of time to do a number of things. Two hours later I was writing a hundred -word true story. The memory of that day echoed in my mind all day.

At nine PM I sat down to watch, “Jeopardy” my favorite player Matt Jackson was competing in the tournament of champions; at first he was slow in responding; then he whizzed through and made it to the finals. I was thrilled my evening turned out better than I hoped.

I went to bed happy, woke up this morning feeling good because I didn’t have nightmares!

Writing 101,day fourteen: Recreate a single day

Assignment: Recreate a single day

You can tackle this assignment in a number of ways:

Start in the middle of the action and zig  zag through time from the moment you woke up to the last thing that happened before you retired for the night.

I heard something as if in my sleep, noticed the sound was persistent,I opened my eyes to check what it was so harsh in sound with no sweetness in it. I looked at the clock, it was 5 AM, I realized I set the alarm to wake up for morning prayer.

I woke up washed and got ready for my usual activity of the day i.e. prayer. I was thankful someone invented the clock to wake up lazy people like me.

Twenty five minutes later my first activity of the day was done. I had breakfast, which is nothing special, two crackers, lathered by peanut butter and a cup of tea.

I turned on the computer to remind myself of day thirteen writing assignment, compose a series of vignettes, this wasn’t something I was familiar with. What kind of anecdote will I write, then it seemed my inner voice whispered, “Why don’t you write about your pilgrimage to Mecca(Makkah)?”

I was thrilled to have a lasting companion who talks to me when I need help. I gathered all the information in my mind, I had no photographs to show the places, we are not allowed to use cameras. But I assumed ‘Wikipedia’ could be helpful. And it was, I got the pictures I needed.

After putting together all the information, I was ready to hit the publish button and link my post to the commons.

I was relieved I had my assignment done. what was I going to do next was troubling me. “Go for a walk was the instruction.”

I got ready and stepped out the back door, on my way out I checked the mailbox, there it was the visa bill, since I was out , I changed my plan of going for a walk to take a bus ride to the bank. There weren’t that many people in there, I was served almost immediately.

It was a sunny bright day, I walked  to the ‘Supermarket’ to buy a few things for supper. It didn’t take me long, I had a lot of time left, I walked over to the bus stop to go to the mall. I waited fifteen minutes, there were wasps flying all over and I was not happy to see them. In came a young woman with three bags of groceries, the scent of her food items attracted the attention of one measly wasp, it came right in the covered bus stop and buzzed around her. Before this incidence I wasn’t aware the wasps like our kind of food. Maybe there were not enough flowers for them.

Somehow the young woman got rid of the lonely wasp and everything was fine.

In the mean time the bus showed up, I was on board in search of a tape recorder in a store in the mall. They do not carry them was the verdict. I came home.

I fed the felines, then had lunch and started cooking cauliflower and then chicken. With the cooking done I took a shower and waited for my daughter to arrive. She came at 5 PM, supper was ready. She was happy she didn’t have to wait for it.

In the evening I wanted to relax and have some entertainment. I turned on the TV watched ‘wheel of fortune’ followed by ‘jeopardy’ I was tired enough ,  I went  straight to bed!
