Day One : Why Do I write?
The Pen Is Mightier Than The Sword’ is an adage coined by English author Edward Bulwer-Lytton in 1839, indicating that communication, or in some interpretations, administrative power or advocacy of an independent press, is a more effective tool than direct violence.
I believe writing helps me to express clearly which a violent weapon cannot. I know writing is powerful, politicians are afraid of press which is why they call it ‘fake News,’ which convinces those who either are blind followers or do not understand the words in print.
Our sub-continent achieved independence with the help of powerful writers like Tagore, Iqbal, and other writers, they did not use weapons to drive our foes away, they used their writing to convince the masses to understand their poverty will not disappear as long as they’re inactive and blame their fate for their condition.
God wants us to use our intellectual power to change our lives. Violence will never help change our current situation.
The politicians put fear in the minds of innocent people, they tell them everything the press write is fake news!

Today’s Prompt : Magic
…………………………….
My life is built on magic,
I solemnly agree,
I cannot apply any logic ,
To make you believe me.
……………………………………
Once I had to make an important decision,
To study or not in a scary destination.
The walls of the building appeared to be howling,
It’s your last chance someone yelled growling.
…………………………………………………………………….
Perhaps my life’s magic bid me goodbye,
I was down in the dumps I kid you not.
Suddenly things changed with the news I got,
An ad for scholarships I will not lie.
…………………………………………………….
B.Ed. scholarships were offered
On the classified page.
Can this be fate’s last endeavour?
Or is it some magic performed by a sage!
…………………………… 🙂
Raphael and Gabriel
…………………….
We got them when
they were a few
weeks old .
………………..
Now they’ve grown
up and
are two years old.
………………….
They are cuddly
they are lovable
but not easy to handle.
………………………
One morning I was
terrified to hear,
the felines were busy with their claws.
……………………
The sound was no music
to my ears,
I wondered what will they do was my fear.
……………………
I soon discovered a hole
on my box spring,
so this is why they sharpened their claws that morning.
……………………….
My mind told me to spray water
I thought it will work like magic,
unfortunately it was a lame trick.
……………………….
Then daughter handed me
a no scratch bottle
it too proved to be awful.
……………………
Only yesterday I thought
of a plan,
Why not I use perfume on my stand.
……………………..
I tell you what
it worked like a charm,
the cats will no longer harm.
……………………..
My poor box spring
will never go through this ordeal,
for the felines have lost their zeal.
……………………..
Not even a seasoned magician
will ever think of my magic
how the perfume from the bottle did the trick!

Writing 101- Day 1: I Write Because……
I write because I enjoy writing. It helps me write about things that is not always possible to carry on in a conversation.
I am not sure my friends or relatives would like me to talk in length what my thoughts are, some may show interest only half-heartedly ;others may tune me out; thinking what I’m saying is not interesting enough for them.
When I write I please myself, I do not have to think about anyone; it’s just my world and I get the luxury of putting my thoughts in print. Some may read it , others may not. I write because it helps me to express myself.
I like to write about myself, who I am, why I’m writing, why do I have a blog. I have made friends through my writing.
Blogging has helped me write about things I would not otherwise write.
I’m glad I decided to translate some of Tagore’s poems and his songs. I feel it is interesting for people who’ve heard about him, but are unable to know about his writings because of the language barrier. In a very small way I’ve tried to post some of his writing by translating them.
