Phool bauley , dhonno aami matir ‘paurey         Flower says I am fortunate to be on this earth
দেবতা ওগো, তোমার সেবা আমার ঘরে ।।                            Oh goddess, I worship you in my house.
জন্ম নিয়েছি ধূলিতে দয়া করে দাও ভুলিতে,                                I am born in the dust, kindly let me forget

,                                                                                             it,
নাই ধূলি মোর অন্তরে ।।                                                           My inner self has no dust.

নয়ন তোমার নত করো,                                                        lower your eyes,

দলগুলি কাঁপে থরোথরো ।                                                          the petals are trembling violently

চরণপরশ দিয়ো দিয়ো, ধূলির ধনকে করো স্বর্গীয়-                       let  me touch  your feet, make the earth’s

treasure heavenly-

ধরার প্রণাম আমি তোমার তরে ।।                                             I earth, prostrate before you.

My dear friend

What is anxiety, what is pain,

Day and night you talk about love,

Dear friend what is love?

Is it only pain, shedding tears

and sorrowful sigh

How do people give up

Happiness for love

To me everything is pleasant

fresh, young, and clear

Deep blue sky, green forest

clear moonlight

soft and gentle flower

They are like me

they only laugh and sing

they want to enjoy life and then die

they know not pain or weeping

nor do they fancy torment

The flower laughs and withers

Moonlight smiles and disappears

The night star laughs and  sacrifices itself

in the lighted ocean

Is there anyone happy like me

Come to me my friend

your heart will calm down

when you hear my happy song

If you are destined to weep daily

why not laugh at least for one day

forget your depression

So we all can sing a happy song together!

365 Writing Prompts: I can’t drive 55

Take the third line of the last song you heard, and make it your post title, and write for fifteen minutes, Go!

Does love mean pain and tears?

I wanted to know from my good friend about love, this is all he talks about. My question was what is love, you do not seem to be happy, yet you tell me you are in love. If it means you are going to be miserable all your life, it is not worth it, think about all the creatures on earth who are not humans, to them to love is to enjoy.

The flower in the garden blooms and looks beautiful, it keeps smiling and eventually withers and scatters when the wind blows.

The moonlight brightens up the sky and the earth, when the time comes for it to leave it happily disappears.

You see the reflection of the stars in the ocean, they  too are spreading their love but are not in pain because they have to leave.

The poet loves everything he sees, he sings with joy,he loves nature, he is never sad to see the moon disappear or the flower to wither, these are facts of life.

My friend heard all this quietly and said there is a difference, the flower, the moon, the stars, and nature, what they lack is feeling, they do not feel hurt when they wither and die.

My case is not the same as them, I feel for the person I love.If she is sad I’m sad too. We have a lot of obstacles in our path, we have parents, relatives and friends who stand in the way of our love.

We have to get their blessing which is not easy to get. We are not free like nature, Rousseau summed it up beautifully, “Man is born free, but everywhere he is in chains.”

Tagore Song: shokhi bhabona kahare bauley Posted and translated by ranu

What is anxiety

what is suffering

You talk about  love day and night.

Does love mean pain and tears

and painful sighs?

Are you happy to surrender,

happiness for pain?

To me everything is fresh and pure

The deep blue sky, the green garden

clear moonlight and soft flowers,

Like me they laugh and they sing.

To them laughter and music

Should continue even,

When  they are dying.

They know not pain and suffering,

They do not crave for them.

A flower blooms and laughs

as it  withers.

The moonlight beams and disappears

The stars sacrifice their light

on the ocean.

Is there anyone happier than me?

Come to me my friend,

My happy heart’s song

Will relieve your pain.

Since you weep every day,

Why don’t you try to forget your pain,

Once and sing with me!

Bengali Song olir o kautha Bengali Song, Post and translation by Ranu, https://sabethville.wordpress.com

The flower laughs when the bumblebee speaks,
You don’t laugh when I speak.

Spring greets Earth and touches it,
But you never come close to me.

High above, the clouds float and embrace the sky,
You don’t embrace me even in my dreams.

The moonlight brightens the dark sky,
But your light never reaches my heart.

The bird lovingly calls its partner to the nest,
But your voice is silent.

I am a lost traveler

visiting you.

I am evening’s jasmine dear

and morning’s Arabian jasmine

do you know me?

I know you young traveler

your colorful clothing flies in the forests.

In the month of phalgun,

you are an impatient fire,

In the night of the month of chaitra,

you are aloof.

We are floating towards you

Who is calling this homeless

crazy person,

in a humming tune,

when I roam around in the forest?

I the mango bud called you.

I dreamed of you before I saw you,

I loved you without knowing you.

When the day is done,

and I am finished playing in the heated sand,

ready to go on the road,

who will take the fallen flowers in the chariot?

I the creeper will take it.

When the dry leaves scatter,

at the sound of music,

who will be left?

I will  stay and be sad,

O the indifferent traveler,

the beautiful spring ,

will erase the pain of separation.

I the crazy traveler will laugh.

I am a lost traveler,

visiting you.

tagore song tumi je shurer agun you have touched the fire of music by Tagore translated and post by ranu

You have touched the fire of music

in my heart.

This fire is spread everywhere.

It is dancing between those

dead tree branches.

Who is it pointing  to in the sky.

In the dark  the stars are watching

with surprise.

From where is the crazy

wind blowing?

At midnight a flower

blossomed

O it is a gold waterlily.

Who knows how much

power the fire has!

Incomplete By Rabindranath Tagore___ translation by Ranu

This is a poem in which the poet talks  about all the things that he could not complete.

In life all the prayers I did not complete,

I know ,I know even then it is not my defeat.

The unopened flower  that fell on the earth,

the river that lost its flow on the desert,

I know ,I know even then it is not a loss.

In my life whatever is left incomplete,

I know,I know even then it is not false.

My future my  unblemished life

are playing in the strings of your lute__

I know, I know still they are not lost.
