Daily Prompt: Advantage of foresight

pad2015-s1.png (308×60)

You’ve been granted the power to predict the future! The catch__ each time you use your power, it costs you one day(as in you’ll live one day less). How would you use this power, if at all?

If I use this unbelievable power that I’m granted to predict the future, I will live one day less is the catch.

My question whose future am I supposed to predict. If it is the world, there is not much to predict, everything is pretty obvious, the Americans will elect a new president. Canadians are getting ready to perhaps elect a new prime minister, probably not from the same party.

India and Pakistan are not sure who deserves to have Kashmir added to their country. This controversy will continue for a very long time.

Bangladesh is not sure how long their PM will last.

The stock market will go up and down for ever.

The prices of food will continue to rise.

Global warming will continue to mess up our weather. These are not predictions these are some hardcore facts. I’ve only written what is true, so I shall not lose any day of my life,I hope.  🙂

DP Daily Prompt: Think Global, Act Local

pad2015-s1.png (308×60)

“Think Global.” Write a post connecting a global issue to a personal one.

There is a global concern about the change of climate due to global warming. Here at home our weather is very uncertain. There was a time when we knew how much snow we will have, I mean approximately. Now we have rain instead of snow, no I am  not complaining , I know I do not have to shovel rain yet I am concerned about this change.

How will this change of weather affect us, will it be detrimental to farmers who expect a certain kind of weather to grow food. If this happens food will be expensive, they already are and how much more can a family afford to pay for produce that they need daily!

365 Writing Prompts: Fifteen Minutes

You have fifteen minutes to address the whole world live (on television or radio—choose your format). What would you say?

I think I’ll use TV to address the whole world, it’s a medium where I’m sure more people will watch and listen.

To the organizers a big thank you.

Since I have fifteen minutes to let the whole world know my message : here it goes, Hello World , thank you for turning on your TV sets, I have a very important message for every man, woman and child,my message is simple.

We are at a stage when we are facing global warming, we did not pay attention when we were first informed . We now have to do our part to save the world we live in we are indebted to our children grandchildren and humanity  to turn this terrible news into something favorable. I’m not asking for too much all I need for us to do   is to cooperate, and   avoid further damage to our planet.

Recycle everything recyclable, stop cutting down the trees, instead plant trees wherever possible.

Use carpools so that there are less vehicles on the road or use public transportation  such as the bus or subway where applicable.

There a lot of things besides what I have mentioned, I’m hoping my other respected speakers will share some of their concerns.

Thank you for listening goodbye!

365 Writing Prompts: Celebrate good times

You received some wonderful,improbable,hoped- for good news. How do you celebrate?

Lately I cannot recall any news that is good, improbable, hoped for so there is very little to celebrate.

I usually celebrate good news by inviting a few of my friends to supper, I cook their favorite dish, we spend the evening discussing everything from world news to global warming. We come up with certain things that can slow down the process , then again I’m not sure if the damage done is irreversible.

In Canada I found out the province of Ontario was pushing the slogan,”Reduce,Reuse,Recycle,”  many years ago our province has only started this only a short while.

Given the fact global warming is a major concern, I am not sure, if the citizens of the world are trying to see what they can do to help.

We’d discuss all this and when all is said and done with, we settle in our homes and try to forget what is happening to the planet of ours.
