365 days: an epic poem

Goodbye dear Delhi

A to Z

All you children wake up we’ll leave today,

Bags packed before clouds darken sun’s ray.

Cautiously mom completes her cooking,

Danger seems imminent as we were looking.

Evil sights were visible at our front door,

Friends called out, you can’t wait anymore.

Goodbye dear Delhi we softly whispered,

Hey loot this house , man in bicycle uttered.

I was terrified thinking they’ll kill us,

Just like statues we showed no emotion,

Karma can’t be the reason for our condition.

Lord knows how far is my Dad’s office,

Man is making us suffer we have no choice.

Never did we dream one day we’ll be outsiders,

O creatures of God our feet are sore with blisters.

Please let us rest and allow us to hire some taxis,

Quietly we’ll leave this place it’s our promise.

Rest assured we will have good memories of Delhi,

Sadly we’ll leave our abode of several years,

To those who will replace us to you our cheers.

Unable we are to welcome what’s waiting for us,

Vast open land will separate us from our city.

Woe to those who are responsible for this break,

Xylophone alone will never cure our heartache.

Year will pass, nothing will standstill we know,

Zip your tongue mom says and let us go!

Writing 101, Day 10: Farewell

Assignment: Write a poem of a farewell today.

Farewell to Everyone

………………………

It’s painful to see the loved ones go

To an unimaginable place I don’t know

I wish they’d visit me in my dream

It too is impossible it seems.

…………………….

When I went to bid goodbye to Goodenough House

The secretary received me with a gorgeous smile

She said, I still remember, “It’s au revoir , Miss Sabeth,

Not Goodbye, I hope to see you sometime soon.”

……………………………….

I went to London many times

I didn’t have the heart to say, Goodbye,

Let it be :Au Revoir till the end of time

This is what I quietly said in my mind.

………………………….

Once again I’m here to bid farewell

To my blogger friends

Who were kind enough

To leave their comment.

………………………..

Many thanks to all of you

For reading my attempt

To write poetry

Even though you were pressed for time.

…………………………..

Before I dot my i’s and cross my t’s

It wouldn’t be fair if I failed to

Mention my dear friend Robert

Who through thick and thin

Supported me.

………………….

He thinks I’m a poet how sweet is he

He counted me in the poets circle

Is it not a real miracle!

……………………………….

Writing 101, Day 1: Magic

Today’s Prompt : Magic

…………………………….

My life is built on magic,

I solemnly agree,

I cannot apply any logic ,

To make you believe me.

……………………………………

Once I had to make an important   decision,

To  study or not in a  scary destination.

The walls of the  building appeared to be howling,

It’s your last chance someone yelled growling.

…………………………………………………………………….

Perhaps my life’s magic bid me goodbye,

I was down in the dumps I kid you not.

Suddenly things   changed with the news I got,

An  ad for  scholarships I will not lie.

…………………………………………………….

B.Ed. scholarships were offered

On the classified page.

Can this be fate’s last endeavour?

Or is it some  magic performed by a sage!

…………………………… 🙂

Daily Prompts: Imaginary Friend

pad2015-s1.png (308×60)

Many of us had imaginary friends as young children. If your imaginary friend grew up alongside you, what would his/her/its life be like today? ( Didn’t have one? Write about a non-imaginary friend you haven’t seen since childhood).

I did not have imaginary friends, I was busy playing with my siblings, there was never a moment when I could think of imaginary friends. If I wasn’t busy with my siblings, I was doing chores for my Mom.It hardly left enough time for me to imagine anything.

I had a friend in school in the lower grades. She was quite nice, but her attendance in school, left a lot to be desired. Her parents were wealthy, she was the only child. I presume they didn’t care much about her education.

During our summer vacation,  my Dad passed away. I didn’t get  a chance to say  goodbye to my friend.

We were in the process of leaving the city to go to Bangladesh, my parents’ original home. I  lost contact with her, but wondered what she was doing.

My guess is she may not have continued her education after high school. Her parents  probably were anxious to see her married, if nothing else she could produce grand kids for them.

My non-imaginary friend I think is happily married, she has multiple servants at her beck and call; she certainly has no time to think of her childhood friend.
