365 Writing Prompts: The natural world

Describe your first memorable experience exploring and spending time in nature. Were you in awe? Or were you not impressed? Would you rather spend time in the forest or the city?

This is the image of Talkotora bagh in New Delhi. I saw this a long time ago,I have not forgotten how thrilled I was in a place where the grass is luscious green. Any where you turn around you see nature in its awesome form. Somewhere in my heart it feels as though I am yet to see a place as alluring as this park. May be there are many others in the world but I haven’t seen them.

Yes I love nature, it has so much to offer, the tall trees, the finely cut grass, the variety of flowers, the birds chirping, the colorful butterflies, and the people walking with their family, the picnic stands, the vendors trying to sell food, all this in a park.

I like the freedom nature offers.

A city to me cannot compare with nature. In the city, there are skyscrapers, the continuous movement of vehicles, people always in a hurry to get to their destination. You see worn out stern faces, it just does not seem right to be in a city with all its hustle and bustle makes life unbearable.

I think I’d love to spend time in a forest.

DP Daily Prompt: Roy G. Biv

pad2015-s1.png (308×60)

Write about anything you’d like , but make sure that all colors of the rainbow– red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet– make an appearance in the post, either through word or image.

The clear sky tempted Pamela to go for a walk, it has been a long time since she got out of the house. The sun was shining brightly, the grass looked its original color and children skipping with amusement reminded her of her childhood.

Walking along a deserted path she met Sangita, her friend from school, they were delighted to see each other. All at once Sangita asked Pam if she’d be interested to come to their ‘Holi Party.’ Pam wasn’t sure it was such a great idea, she was wearing her attractive indigo dress, she did not want it to be smothered by multi- colors. Pam tried to excuse herself but Sangita refused to take ‘No’ for an answer. Reluctantly she agreed hoping her dress wouldn’t be ruined.

While walking along Pam tripped up fell down and scraped her knee, it was bleeding, she panicked and excused herself and ran home.

Mom was waiting for her with a bunch of Marigolds given by their neighbor, Pam got some band-aid to put on her knee and sat down with her mother. They chatted for a while mom went to check her roast, Pam took a magazine to read, it was all about Kate, Prince William’s wife. Pam loved Kate’s  dress it was a beautiful violet, she  looked extremely pretty in it.

Pam made up her mind to get an orange dress for herself to celebrate Spring!

365 Writing Prompts: Places

Beach,mountain,forest,or somewhere else entirely?

Beach at this time of year is not a place I’d like to go.

Mountain is not a place for the same reason a beach isn’t.

Forest, cannot think of going there either.

Somewhere else maybe, where it’s not cold, no snow no cruel strong wind.

Where the sun shines everyday.

We do not have to wear heavy coats, scarves and mittens.

Where nature beckons us with open arms.

Where the grass is green and feels like velvet.

Where the colorful flowers are lined up in a row.

Where there are hamburgers and french fries,

Laid out on long tables outdoors.

Where children are laughing and playing,

And mothers are smiling and saying,

“We wish it was warm throughout the year.”

That would be the perfect place for me to visit!

Tagore Song :akash bhara

Starry skies, world full of life,

I am surrounded by them,

This astonishing sight

Awakens the song in my heart.

The surging waves,

ebb and flow of tide

oscillates the world

My paternal affection rises

at  this astonishing sight

and awakens the song in my heart.

On my way to the forest

my feet touches the grass,

My mind is thrilled

by the scent of flowers

that scatter the song of happiness

This astonishing sight

Awakens the song in my heart.

I listen, my eyes are wide open

I pour my heart to the world

I have discovered the unknown

In my inner self

This astonishing sight

Awakens the song in my heart!

Pausharini Vendor( poem) by Tagore Translation by Ranu

Vendor ,O vendor,

morning is spent buying and selling in  markets.

When it’s time to return home

who knows what came to mind

you sat under the shady tree,

all  the saved profit

remained in the basket,

where did your  thoughts take you.

This field,this red dirt,

Jackfruit

Jackfruit (Photo credit: Rennett Stowe)

the  leaves of the jack fruit touched by the sun,

the cold breeze

the trembling  grass

what did they say in your ears!

Far away in the river water

stripes of light glistens,

what spell does it add to your meditation.

From creations first recollection

the first vibration started your blood flow

This is why the tree and  grass

know their heart

the midday of winter__

in earth’s playground

for a long time

you play in the  golden green lawn.

Sitting in the quiet field

your mind’s screen is cast off speedily.

the light and  sky together

seem dancing in the universe

you see in front of you

middle of that huge space

the sound  playing

is humming in your heart.

The speedy calls

have ended in this familiar world.

There is no news anywhere,

no hint of action__

voiceless

sun’s  scorching  heat is felt instantly

a deep sigh comes from  empty space.

Vendor,O vendor,

you forgot for a split second buying and selling.

where’s the market, the wharf,

where’s the home, the road,

the day’s noisy murmur,

brings eternal message

to everyone’s  heart

quiet  indifference and anxiety.
