Daily Prompt: Decisions,Decisions

How are you more likely to make an important decision- by reasoning through it, or by going with your gut?

Actually I don’t make decisions important or not by reasoning, neither do I go with my gut. I think for a few minutes and take action. This has been the case with me all my life.

I never think about my ability I go ahead and apply for any course I study, although, I make sure I have the requisite qualification.

There is one thing I do where I apply some reasoning, when I’m traveling by bus this one is whether I should get off at my stop ,near my home or go on to the mall. This is how I do it, what will I accomplish by going to the mall, when I think of it, I’ll go there and enter through one door and come out the other I changed my decision.

Today was the day I went out, my return by bus gave me two options, go straight to the mall, walk around to get my required steps,I’m wearing the Garmin which records the number of steps I take from early morning till bedtime. The reasoning was not convincing enough, I decided I’d go home instead which is what I did.

As it happens I was fortunate, I succeeded in reaching my goal by 5PM. What did I do I worked in the kitchen, I had plenty of occasion to walk in my kitchen.

My decision to avoid the mall worked. I know it’s not worth mentioning, but I did make the right decision by my reasoning.

365 Writing Prompt: From the gut

Tell us about the last time you had a real, deep, crying-from–laughing belly laugh.

I cannot remember laughing that hard, I do laugh when some of my siblings make mistakes. Once one of our aunt asked my brother,Riaz,  “How is your middle sister?” He was disturbed, instead of giving a reply, he showed he didn’t like the question.

He said, ” She is not my middle sister she is My  sister”.

There have been many occasions  I laughed because some of the questions my classmates asked were stupid. I know I shouldn’t but I could not control myself.

I know laughter is the best medicine, it’s not always easy to laugh I think.

Writing Prompt: Decisions,decisions

How are you likely to make an important decision__ by reasoning through it, or by going with your gut?

If I have to make an important decision I do not rely on my gut feeling,to me if it is important I must use reasoning and not gut.

I have made quite a few decisions in my life, they were always based on careful reasoning, I didn’t want to do something which will haunt my entire life.

When I was a student my aim was to pursue my studies as long as I can depend on my brothers to help me financially. I was  fortunate they did not disappoint me.

Then came a time when I wanted to study further and felt it was not fair on my part to expect help from my brothers any more. I did what in my mind was the right thing,I applied for a scholarship. I thought it out and knew it was time  for me to see if I can be independent.  Luckily I got what I wanted and within a year I was qualified to teach. I chose my path of teaching and never regretted it.

True there were obstacles I independently decided what I must do. I had siblings whom I could ask, I wasn’t sure I could use their advice.

After completing my education I took the teaching job, I quit when I felt the particular institution failed to satisfy me!
